  • Big thanks to Optipower

Just wanted to say thank you to the Optipower team. I bought a few 3s 850's for my X2. One of them was clearly faulty and was cutting out and behaving very strange. Sent the battery off to Optipower.... a few days after i received a call from Andy to discuss the problem and its symptoms, he then outlined the course of action they would take which was to take it away and test it fairly extensively. A few days later i received another call from Ashley i believe his name was. He took me through the results of all the tests they had done... most of the technical elements of the conversation went straight over my head to be honest. But i thought it was really good of them to call me direct to discuss it and to tell me what they had found.... great service!!!!!!

So, the battery was faulty so they replaced it for me and in very quick time too!!!

I find it refreshing to get such a personal touch from a company over a £20 lipo. A lot of companies I'm sure wouldn't care... and if they did... i doubt very much they would go to the lengths that Optipower did to make sure that i was happy

    Thanks again Optipower

That's good news but what troubles me is if it was clearly faulty, why such the rigorous testing before a replacement was offered on as you say such a cheap one of theirs.

Is this standard practice with any issues?

They accepted it was faulty right from the off... i think it was more they wanted to get to the bottom of why it was faulty and wanted to include me in the process a bit. They were very apologetic and annoyed that it had got through the resistance testing and qc. Guess they wanted to learn from the mistake instead of just sending me a new battery with no explanation or analysis on their part.

Great service from those guys, never had any optipower stuff but definitely going to try a few packs as my 3s 450 packs are starting to get a bit old. Cheers for the info Adam.

Ah that sounds good, cheers for clarifying, certainly my intention to phase in their packs gradually over the Turnigys with the plan to use less packs cycled more often.

I just have the one at present 6s 2700 for my 500 pro but intend to do very single flight with that heli on that pack, fly, charge, fly. Saving my other packs cycles that will fit this model also for 12s flights.

So they need to be good and take loads of cycles quickly.

No worries Dan. They are definitely my choice of lipo and I'm sure they will be for some time with service like that. Im guessing they can't make em fast enough to supply the demand.... which is a good problem! Still waiting for some more 5000's for the 550

Chris, keep us informed of how your getting on with the Optipower. I'll be purchasing just the 1 at the moment just for grass roots as i still like to get 2 Turnigys for the same price so i get 2 flights not 1 before a charge.

Will do Paddy,it will be certainly getting plenty of use with a fly,2c charge, fly plan of attack.

It has to hit 100 cycles with zero loss of power to warrant another at least, that's my target.i rate the Turnigys very highly so this has to be something else for as you say double the cost.

As of now on 4 cycles I can say it as tons of power but so do my Turnigys so will have this conversation again in the summer.

Yes, i think we'll be comparing notes. I've been keeping a close eye on my newest 25C & so far after 43 cycles it feels to me as it did with 10 cycles. The internal resistance hasn't budged since it's first charge either.

                      You mean Turnigy yes?

All of my Turnigys have passed 50 cycles with no I'll effects noted and still going strong, hence my 100 cycles on this.

Anyway it's good their warranty is good as SaneAdam says, mine won't apply as I hammered it on flight 2,normally it's flight 1 so needed a fair comparison so no special treatment on offer for mine,it's put up or shut up.

I can't pussy it and get a fair comparison at this stage.

As long as it gets resolved does it matter, I fail to see why this is an issue
