  • Optipower 6s 5000mAh light weight!!

    Hi guys

I received some Optipower 6s 5000mAh packs this week and out of interest popped them on the scales. I was amazed to see they came out at 753g!! This is the lightest I have seen for this size of pack as most are around the 800-850g mark.

    Opti Power Lipo Cell Battery 5000mAh 6S 30C OPR50006S

Duration, power and light weight! Awesome!

    Cheers
    Pete

      Hi Nick,

      Great stuff!

They should rock on the 550 being so light plus you get the duration for a decent flight time!

      Cheers

The weight of packs does seem to be coming down with new technology cells. The 30C rated FlightPower packs are pretty much the same weight as the Opti packs, and both Thunderpower 65C and FlightPower 50C packs hit the 800g mark.

I don't think anything from HK comes close to those weights at the moment.

        All good news for us.

Yes, looks HK lipos can't keep up with recent waves of reasonably priced brand lipos (Optipower, Gens Ace, Voltz). It's good trend in my opinion.

I'll for sure not buy HK lipos for my future 700, only have them for my 250 (nanotechs) and they are weak comparing too pretty much any other brand. Going to put a nail through them in spring and get some 850 mah Optipowers.

its the puffing that really p155es me off, you treat em right ad they still go squidgy, from what ive heard the opti ones dont suffer with thiss so cant wait to start using them, however ill be holding out till spring, dont like lipo's in this cold weather.
              All the best
              Tony.

The optis havent been round long enough to find out if they go squidgy tho have they?
I've had a lot of best brand lipos supoorted by the forums top fliers & have had most of them puff eventualy. But I guess the warranty is worth its weight in gold with optis, even if they went that way from missuse they would be alot cheeper to replace. I am keen to try a 6s 5000 but so far nobody has been able to tell me if they will fit between the fusions frame.

The correct sizes can be found here - http://www.optifuel.co.uk/public/05c...01994e1236.pdf

Ignore the size quoted on most of the retail sites as they all used the initial incorrect information for the 6S 5000 packs.

Got a few of these packs, was going to go with the 4300's in my Rave but when I saw that the 5000's were only very slightly heavier I went for them instead. I've also got one for the 550 and I've given it a bit of stick and tried to look after it but failed and so far it's working perfectly, balances up just find and I'd have to say is better than the Hyperion pack I've got.

Unfortunately the pack needs to fit a certain way with the leads exiting the front but on the side not from top or bottom else the wires will get shredded by the frame. heres a picture of a turnigy 40c pack fitted to it. I just need to know the width of the pack across the sides the wires exit & if it's under 60mm then great if it's nearer 55mm like the turnigy then I'm buying one

I think you are going to be happy then as both height and width of these packs are below 50mm. Get someone that has one in front of them to check (just in case the split pack wiring has any impact) but I don't see how these packs could fail to fit.

Cheers Mark have 2 packs on order with fastlads. I will take a chance on them as I'm sure if the link lead exits the same place as the pack leads & the length of that side is under 60mm all should fit means i will be able to take them to corfu in the summer too & be legal with the lipo carrying on aeroplanes guidelines
