  • Optisticks, anyone tried them?

Just wondered if anyone had tried the optistick packs that get you the heatshrink to join two cells together into one?

Wondering if it's worth doing for the 6s 5000mah packs for my 700e.

Few guys I know have joined packs to form stick packs. There are no issues really so do it!

Would be no good for me as some helis have the packs in separate locations but if you just have helis that have the packs like that then I would stick me together. Makes it easier.

I will be picking a couple of kits up to join my optipacks together, it will make things easier when installing/removing the batteries on the E6.

With the 700E it would really depend on how you have the trays setup, on the 700's I've seen most have had multiple trays and have just strapped the batteries to them and then leave them attached.
      Thanks!

I was just wondering if it's easy to remove later ( say you swap to a heli like a srimok that needs them in a different config )

There are disadvantages I could see, one being the cables to the ESC might need to be longer as the cables would be at the ends, and also that makes charging more of a pain as you need longer charge cables and balance board leads.

It's only heat shrink tubing so you can easily remove it with a sharp knife if you decide to split the packs again.

If you're careful you should be able to put a slit into one side of the heat shrink, then poke the wires through the centre so you don't end up with the wires so far apart. You may just then need to put a bit of insulation tape over the slit to stop it from spreading. It's something I'm going to try when I get my packs sorted for the Rave.
