  • Opti-power packs are here ;-)

Just seen the opti-power packs have landed at revolution models today ;-)

Picked up 2x 4300 6s packs to try in my TDR :-)

These packs are a lot lighter than the turnigy counter-parts

Just wanted to try them back 2 back with my regular to packs

    Before committing to buying more

On charge as we speak :-)

I'm impressed that they test and quote results and give 6 months guarantee and 50% crashback. I'd like to know how they test IR as the results depend on the method. It's not that one method is better than another, but just for comparing results. I think I'll try one of their 35C packs when my next one dies.

Or they use all methods of ir and take an average?

you still cant beat Turnigy for the Price ! still the only thing that Lets Leccy down the 5 min flights ! when they manage 10 mins i will be more interested in paying £100 a pack but until such time i will buy the cheap stuff that TBH has never let me down i have even used Giant cod stuff and Turnigy in EDF models pulling Huge currents. Worst pack i Ever had was flight power and the best i ever has was a old 3s 2000 kokam pack from overlanders, had no balance leads and lasted for ever and never puffed work that out !!

I use the Wane Giles tester. That puts a pulse of about 17amps through the battery and measures the change in voltage. It's a simple measure of a high peak load that tells you how good the battery is for 3D type performance. The chargers tend to measure the ripple during charge. I've noticed the IR is lower just after charge which some people put down to heating in the battery. I'm not so sure as the batteries are cooler after charge because the chemical reaction needs heat. The IR is lower though, for whatever reason, so field charging (just before use) should/might make lipos last longer, as they will run cooler in use.

I was talking to Andy just recently about the differences in Opti packs when compared to some of the cheaper imports. I'll leave it for him to explain because he does it best but I have no doubt they will be a best seller in the not to distant future

well im running Align 2600's and after 5 mins of IU1 i put back about 1300-1600mah so i guess i could start pushing my flight times but i have only just started flying again so dont want to push the packs or myself atm. i still dont think a cheap vs expensive 3000mah pack will make much duration difference +- 30 seconds maybe, of course for people who can take advantage of the extra power on tap then yes there worth it but for normal sport you could get 4 packs for the price of 1 = 24-28 mins of flight, lipo's are the only place i cut corners really there is defo way to much mark up on some packs.

I think they are missing a trick by jumping from 850 to 2150mah... that's a big gap in the range. I would have happily bought 4 1000mah or 1100mah for my X2 but in the end I've gone with the new 45C nano-tech 1000mah packs.

Maybe when I need to buy new batts for stretching my Protos I'll give them a go.

You should be able to fly 8 mins on those packs - the difference will be that the cheaper packs will loose power at about 7 mins and slow the head speed. The expensive packs will keep going. Andy can explain best
