    Optipower 430

    Hi guys, just installed the optiguard 430 backup thingy on the 570 (thanks Kyle from rc-hero!).

    only issue i'm seeing right off the bat is that the LEDS are on constantly, ive read this happens with higher bec voltages, this true? when i unplug the main batteries, it does flash and is brighter than when its just 'on'

    What voltage are you running at?

    How are the warning LEDs connected to the board, soldered direct to the board, or connected via a plug and socket?

        Yeah - it's in the FAQs for it. If you're running over 7.2v, the white LEDs are on solid ... see : Optipower - ULTRA Guard 430 Backup

        The LED appears to be on all the time?
        This might occur on the earlier UG430 with no diodes on the LED, this is caused by leakage voltage when the set voltage is above 7.2V. We can upgrade the firmware and supply a modified LED if this happens just call us.

          oh nice thanks tom, would this actually cause any negative effects you think? i dont mind the lights being on

            I don't think so, but I haven't checked with Opti. I get the same on my Goblin 630 with 8v from my BEC ...

              I quite like the lights being on, looks more 'scale' with the 'nav' light at the back, just need a green and red one for either side

                I contacted Andy at Optipower and he asked me to send it to them so he could update the firmware to support HV setup. Great support from them and now it does not light up the sky when flying around when all is ok.
