    the one i see 3d'ing about 2 1/2 mins
so i'd say a max of 4 to 5 mins
run it for 4 mins and then check the battery %
if above 20% add a little more time on the next flight until you get near 20%

Good advice, I'll run, stop and check. Felt like about 5 minutes gentle hovering tonight and had 60% left, will keep trying until I get it right... hoped it might be a bit longer than this though, the nitro 600 goes for ages!!!

I'd say just as a guess that doing circuits and a little hovering etc. you should be able to get a very safe 7 minutes (or more). The biggest factor is what headspeeds you're running. To give you an idea, the F3C guys do a ten minute routine, but half of that is hovering and the other half is the aero moves at 1900/2000 ish headspeed.

But the thing to do is start out conservative and see what's left in the packs and then slowly add a little to the timer until you're consistently at 20-30% at the end of the flight.

a nitro model will have a much longer flight time than an electric model

I hadn't flown nitro in so long I forgot to watch the fuel level in the tank and ran my Dyna-X dry yesterday, I knew what was happening as the revs went up and fortunately I was only 6 feet off the ground so no sweat autoing from that height. It's great just flying without worrying about a timer ..... if you remember to watch the tank!

That's the weird thing, with my electric helis I now instinctively know when it's getting close to the end of the timer, I'm already bringing it down right before the timer starts to beep!
