  • Hyperion eos 720i super duo 3 usb issue

Having a night mare trying to couple up my 720I super duo 3 charger to windows 7 based machines ive tried 3 of them with same results.
I keep getting unknown device in device manager but I think its the software itself thats not installing the uart bridge driver properly.
When I start the software for the viewer it asks for the cp210x usb to uart instal line but it wont allow you to alter the location it merely says /instal as the location which obviously windows cannot find because it doesnt exist. I've tried updating the driver via the online option but it merely coames up saying device has the latest driver already but when you click view driver in device manager it says no driver isntalled for this device. I've contacted mr mel & he thinks the chip in the charger has gone bad but im not so sure,
Has anyone had this issue with the hyperion chargers & their viewer software? This is the second one of these chargers ive had & both have gone bad very quickly unfortunately this was bought from a forum member in unused condition but the warranty is out of date by now.

Hyperion eos 720i super duo 3 usb issue

Martin. I gave up trying mine as I'm a computer retard. Seem to remember getting it connected but couldn't work it from there. There is plenty of users on HF so maybe better off there for a quick answer.

If i remember when i did this on my Win7 lappy i had to do the full on manual update of drivers which is go into device manager, right click on device and select 'propertise' then 'driver' tab, then 'Update driver', 'Browse my computer', 'Let me pick...', 'Have Disk' ... point it at the install software area .... i know it took me a little messing about to get it

I did try this but it came up with "the driver assigned to thus device us the most upto date driver" I then selected about driver tab & it said no driver has been allocated to this device. I get error code 42 device not recognised mr mel suggests the USB port chip is buggered thus will be the second failure in a Hyperion product. It doesn't make the charger useless but it would be nice to drive the charger from my laptop whilst at the field.

Do you have an old computer/laptop you could try it on? Sometimes there is a 64/32 bit problem.

            Martin,
There is a known issue with the Hyperion USB system. Even when you get it to work it might not last long if you charge at high amperages.

The problem is that the USB system in the charger is not opto isolated from the charging circuitry and the current murders the USB controller.

It could be that you simply have a driver issue but I honestly would not spend too much time on it since it might fall over anyway.

Hyperion are not interested and neither were Robotbirds (who I bought my £220 charger from)

Ended up buying a PL8 which are opto isolated.
            Cheers

Ahhh cheers for the info mate
All my pc's / laptops are 64 bit so I can't check on a 32 bit system unless I rebuild one from the large amount of parts in the attic lol
