    Cheers for the PDF Stuart.

The PL8 isn't that far out at all, which is good

What is Julians stance with those high IR readings, is the pack being replaced?

Using the Flightpower calculator, that is 'estimated' as a 10c pack.

To add I am not intending to start a warranty claim yet on mine,it still has about 353 days worth of warranty so gonna use it to death first before claiming for a possible brand spanker

I am keeping a close eye on the given ir readings, cycles and pack temp after flight though for now.

It's coming off hotter than the Opti,is not as powerful off the bat as the Opti but remains consistent thru flight.

Opti still starts off strong but fades after about 50% of the flight.

To add the Turnigys are consistent, don't fade, come off cool and are proven to me so neither of the two new brands are of the hook yet.

The Flightpower has a lot of proving to do yet and the Optis are doing nothing to convince me they are worth the extra money yet.

Very early days yet though these packs have a lot of flying to do yet to become worthy.

Thanks Liam, the centre cells on mine are hotter than I would expect, coupled with a definite high IR reading doesnt bode too good.

But I will press on with it for now knowing I have a long warranty period to claim on still.

Flew it again earlier then hit it with a 15amp charge, took 11 mins

Straight off the charger onto the model gave better power.

I have been reading and asking a few questions else where about IR.

If you have a 2600mAh pack and the cell IR is 3mOhms then the best that pack can do is 72Amps. If the cell IR rises to 5mOhms then the best the pack can do now is 56Amps. If you spank a T-Rex 500 with the pack at 5mO per cell you will almost certainly cause it to get much hotter than it should resulting in its early dimise.

Although cell IR is very temperature dependent for a 2600mAh pack to have a true 30C rating its worst cell IR would have to be no more than 2.6mOhms. For a 2700mAh pack it would have to be 2.5mOhms. These figures are for a pack at 22 degs C.

All of this information has been gathered by various people looking at the whole sorry mess of C ratings and doing some in depth testing to come up with the figures and examples I have given above.

well my fp after 20 flights range between 30-40ohms over the full pack come down quite warm off the trex 500, 2 out of the 3 packs had cold solders on the ec5 which caused jive to shutdown resulting in 2 crashes. but julian customer service is excellent its a shame his products are not.

                  Good info Andy,many thanks.

Stocksy, sounds like mine a bit then.

I will keep my progress updated with all pack brands.

I think I will give my FP 30 cycles then if I am unsure of it will contact FP regarding a replacement.

Interestingly, Julian does have the same calculator (or at least one giving the same results) on the FP web site, as mentioned by Sacko above.

Seems to be agreement from one manufacturer at least on the veracity of the calculation.
