Flight Power - Fast Delivery

Ok I have flown the heli pretty hard today and have just charged it on my pl8 using different balance boards at 5a
This time IR for cells 1 to 5 were 4.8 to 5.0 at end of charge, cell 6 was 7.4
I am now charging the Opti pack I compared with yesterday on the same setup so will see if those figures are different as a control test.
Now this was only flight 5 but I would say the pack delivered pretty decent power,it also remained very consistent thru the flight, pack came off at 48 deg c middle cells.
Opti pack was flown after esc had cooled down, more power at start of flight but it drops after a couple of minutes to a lower level but then remains constant from there on,pack came off at 38 deg c centre cells, both packs had 3.7 volts across the board per cell left.
Will report Opti charge figures once done, for now happy to continue flying the FP pack and seeing if it settles down.
Just reporting observations so far,no compaints with either pack really.

I wouldn't worry about the cell 6 figure as there are apparently some issues with the way the PL6/8 calculates the IR which will result in one cell, usually 6 showing a little higher than the rest.
There is some new software in Beta at the moment which addresses that problem with the MPA boards, I'm waiting to see what effect it has in general.
I also have a Wayne Giles ESR meter on the way so I'll have a better way to assess IR in future.

Ok Opti is charged and I think Mark might be right the IR for cells 1 to 5 were all 2.5 bang on and cell 6 was 5.2 so I think there is a charger or balance lead issue going on here.
So for now I think I will kind of ignore IR readings and concentrate more on how the packs are balancing and performing for which I can say no complaints for any of them,Turnigy too.
So as of now the service from Flightpower regarding communication and getting the pack have been very good, very happy with the quality of the pack and the fact it had an ec5 prefitted.
Happy with the in flight power for a 5 cycle old pack so I am sure there will be a few more beans in it yet after a few more cycles.
Will report back after say another 10 cycles but so far happy customer and would not hesitate to consider buying more.Last edited by ChrisB; 23-03-2012, 04:51 PM.

Sounds like a plan and you deserve credit for working through this to a good decision without added emotion getting in the wayOriginally posted by ChrisB View PostSo for now I think I will kind of ignore IR readings and concentrate more on how the packs are balancing and performing for which I can say no complaints for any of them,Turnigy too.

I like the idea that I can check out a pack without having to put it on charge.Originally posted by Mark_T View PostGreat minds ...
None of these devices are going to give an absolute accurate figure (whatever that is
) but at least the Wayne Giles meter will deliver a repeatable test that can show changes over time.

Tbh, I'm glad I didn't try Flightpower now.
These packs are about the same age as your FPs Chris
Using XH mode on the PL8, hence the incorrect cell 4 figure. This is 3 minutes into the charge!

Hmmm good figures Paul, what packs are those may I ask.
Not too worried about mine, they are under a years warranty so if it dies in that time I will be expecting a replacement and then the same with that one and so on and so on.
Sure it will be fine though, tbh with this big green thing sat here looking at me safe and sound Which i thought had gone tits up,I don't care about anything
