  • Is Using this parallel charging Board on my 10s OK ?

    Hi All

What are your thoughts on this ?
HobbyKing R/C Hobby Store : Parallel charging Board for 6 packs 2~6S (EC5)

Will it be ok to charge Multiple Packs on my 10s using this board ? i will be charging i guess between 4 and 6 packs at a time and im getting bored of doing 1 at a time now.

    My questions are

will they balance just as good ?

will all packs remain safe ?

I guess i will just charge at 10amps (my packs are 6s 3000's) (maximum of charger divided by 6 1.6amp just over 0.5c) correct ?

Never used one of these before but looks perfect for me i dont mind waiting 2 hours for 6 packs but 6 hours for 6 packs is getting long in the tooth now especially if i do all 8 packs

    Cheers J

I have used that one with the PL8 and Cellpro 10s for about a year now with zero issues, works well but note with that board due to the length of the leads on the packs plugging more than 2 or 3 in gets awkward. The multiple harness leads are easier to use which i also have.

          Silly question time

How would you plug this into your 10s ?
to charge a 6s battery dont you have to plug into both balance outputs?
I know im probably being thick here and there will be an easy answer.

I would like to do this too but Im confused, which isn't hard for me. LOL

Using the cellpro align balance board as you would for a single 6s pack.

I've been parallel charging 1S batts for my mCPx, 3S batts for my Blade and 6S batts for my 500 over the last year or so. Works a treat and saves SOOOOOO much time!!!

For more info on parallel charging check this out: Parallel LiPo Charging – The Faster & Safer Way To Charge?

I don't understand the question here. To use a parallel charge board, you plug the main charge plug of the board into your charger, the balance lead of the balance board into your charger and then connect between 1-6 batts to the parallel board using the main dis(charge) lead and balance lead of each batt.

If you've got a powerful enough charging setup, you can charge 6x 6S 3000mAh batteries in about 35-40 minutes if you charge at 2C (but your rig will need to supply 36amps and almost 1000W!!!!)

              HTH,
              Matt.

I will plug this board into the Align Board that plugs into both Ports on the 10s.

I do hate the way the 10s uses those Stupid connectors i have to say.

But it will go 10s to Align 6s adapter then plug the 6 pack board into the align adapter. bit of a pain in the backside but seems to be the only way i can do it. could always of course make a custom adapter but tbh i wont lol

the 10s is only a 250w charger (as good as it is, wouldn't part with mine) so just remember this when charging parallel.

i see from your sig you have a 500 so i assume you will be flying 6s 3000mah ish lipos and it will be those you want to charge? realistically you will get about 230w ish with efficiency losses so you can only really put 2 packs on at a time with the cellpro 10s at that size of pack.

                  6s (25.2) x 3 (3000mah) x 1 C (change to your preferred C rating)=76w

realistically your best bet with the above is 1.5c with a pair of packs to give about a 45 min charge time.

                  HTH

                  cheers

I will put all 6 packs on then just charge at 10 amps. the charger will pack down the amps when it gets higher voltage. so 10 x 25v 250 watts 10 amps devide 6 = 1.66 amps so 0.5c charge for all 6 packs (about 2 hours) that will do me fine its not the time that annoys me its the taking on and off all evening.

The 10s only has 2 x 5s balance ports so for 6s you have to use both.

                        DOH!
I knew it would be simple, just didn't realise that the balance board connecter would be the same as the battery one.
Coz the the adapters that go into the 10s are different.
                        Thanks.
