  • Cellpro 10XP repair?

Managed to blow my 10xp yesterday,it powers up but goes to softstart if you try to charge over 4A approx?

Its well out of warranty but a great bit of kit that i would like to get sorted.

Any suggestions on a repair place please?

    Hey Buddy.

Steve Smith, XYGAX on here, would probably be your best bet. However he's quite busy at the moment, so if you PM him don't worry if he takes while to reply.

In the interim, have you taken a peek inside the casing to see if there is anything obvious blown?

        Hey Buddy.

Cool, he's the man if it needs to be fault finding to component level. If it's something visible I should be able to help, but following pcb circuit design and understanding what each area of the board does is still a little too beyond me still. I'm learning, but slowly.

          Cheers Ian.

I will report back what I can see if anything ,it did go BANG though so assume there will be an obvious visible fault.

Only thing that looks out of the ordinary is this Capacitor.

Ah yes, it's split open. On some PSU's I play with this can happen stopping them from working.

It could be that replacement of this cap, with the same voltage/rating or above will fix the problem. Of course it could be that it's gone through something else going pop, is it on the input or output side of the charger?

Guys, if Ian and Steve are busy...
Chris, I can replace the cap with a good quality low-ESR one. If this is on the input to the buck / boost it could be allowing enough ripple to upset the operation and force a soft start.
Ian, hope all is good and see you soon for the long awaited whiff of paraffin.
