  • How weird is this...!!! Should I still use it???

A little while ago I plugged one of my cell pro 10s chargers into the power supply while it was set to 30v for my PL8!

A spark and that funny electric smell later, and the 10s was toast nothing on the display!

As I said, I have 2 of these and I still use the other one (on a PSU that only goes up to 13.8v!!!) however, the other day I plugged the broken one in by accident.......There was a small puff of smoke, and it came on...!!!

I charged a pack on it (watching it like a hawk) and it charged and balanced it perfectly...?

Has it healed up? Is it a miracle? And more importantly, should I use it?

    WEIRD...!

    Cheers, Dave (confused)

My guess is you smoked something inside - like a protection diode or input capacitor etc, and a thermal fuse 'blew' from excessive current.
After a few minutes the fuse will cool down reset itself, so now it is operating but without the smoked bit.
I would get someone to look inside and see what smoked.

Just a word of warning.... Overvoltage damage to semiconductors is insidious....
A capacitor will blow up and smell bad, but things like transistors and microchips might have been damaged, but still work for a while (hours, days or months), then die for no apparent reason...
            Just be careful.
