  • Align 600mx problem PLEASE HELP!!

    Hi
I am just fitting out my 600 EFL PRo air frame and whilst fitting motor mount to the motor, i noticed one of the washers had gone missing!!
Eventually i found it trapped in bottom of motor and can't seem to get it out, so i thought if i take the bottom off i can fish it out. how do i remove the bottom plate off the motor?

    Thanks,
    Dan.

2 grub screws on shaft, then pull it like it was your own! To get to separate

I can only find one, do i pull at the bottom plate, or does the top come out first.

This is a right royal pita.

You need either a press, or a drill press, and an oven.

remove the grub screw (there is a single one)

heat the motor at about 110 degrees C for about 15 minutes.

Take to the press in oven gloves, press out the shaft from the top (the bit with the motor number written on)

          remove can

          remove offending washer

replace can, watch out the magnets will try to rip your fingers off

make sure that the flat on the shaft matches the grub screw hole (press back in shaft)

put back in grub screw (with a tiny bit of threadlock).

If it was me I would look for a much simpler way to get the washer out, like a bit of wire e.t.c.

Good news is.....the washer came out.
Bad news is........the grub screw has dropped in and seems to have dropped right down in to the motor!.
I bought this motor second hand and only got it today!!!

you could try blowing it out with compressed air, but I think its ferrous, which means it will stick to the magnets...

Just to let you know I took the motor over to my friends model Engineering shop an he carefully tapped the shaft out and retrieved the grub screw. He then put the shaft into the chuck on the milling machine and carefully pressed it back into the motor housing. So he saved me a bit of money, but I ended up coming away £40 lighter but with a Balsa wot 4 airframe, which has the motor mount ready for electric conversion, I just need to work out motor and esc size now!

Well thats all good news then

the WOT4 is nice, especially if you have the balsa wing.

Be careful putting them into flat spins though, they dont tend to come out of them that well.......

That was a lot of fuss to get those bits out! I used to do this all the time (not just my clumsy but for friends too).. dead easy with a long pair of fine graspers or a wire hook and good lighting...

Yes Wot 4 has balsa wing so should be good. I'm no fixed wing pilot but will use this to learn! Will get my mate to trim it out etc before I take to the controls!

Yes, sounds like you have more patience than me, i tend to jump the gun a bit and nearly ordered a new motor out of frustration! Lol
The washer could have been fished out but the grub screw was hard to see!
Anyway, lesson learnt with electric motors and magnets!
                        Thanks,
