  • What charging leads do I need?

    Hi,

Can someone point out what charging lead I need to charge 3 x Blade 450 batteries at once and also 3 x Blade 300x batteries at once?

    Thanks

If you are thinking about doing this with the stock eflite charger you are going to come unstuck.

You will need a higher powered charger, a power supply and a balance board.

I would get yourself a couple of cheapish chargers, and be content with only being able to charge two at a time, parallel charging is relatively complicated.

Are you wanting to charge the 450x batteries at the same time as the 300x batteries?

        I have got this charger:

Lipo Battery Balance Charger Overlander AC/DC RC-6S | Overlander Batteries

No not charge them all at the same time.

        I have got 3 x 450x batteries and iv got 3 x 300x batteries.

Id like to charge 3 for one heli at a time depending on what one im flying on the day, hope that makes sense

I was looking here at the leads: http://www.fast-lad.co.uk/store/inde...page=2&sort=1a

        Cheers

I would suggest this then EC3 – Parallel Board « ElectriFlyer

Do you understand how parallel charging works?

That looks like just the job

Yes I understand the basics, I charge 3 of my little Nano batteries at once with a lead I bought.

I will order one up I think.

            Thanks

You will also need a decent charger - eg. iCharger 106B+ « ElectriFlyer
              And a power supply with enough grunt. Assuming charging at 1C, which for 2200mah Blade 450 = 2.2amps, you will need 3 LIPOs x 2.2amps x 12v = 79watts.
              So, a 100watt PSU minimum - for example : P350 Power Supply « ElectriFlyer

EDIT : I didn't read your post properly, and now see you're already sorted in this respect.....

Actually, I just noticed, that charger you have is rated to 5A. That's going to limit you as 1C for the 450x LIPOs = 2.2A. Three of them in parallel will need 3x2.2A = 6.6A for 1C charge. It'll still work I think, but at 5A/3 batteries = 1.6A per LIPO = 0.7C charge rate.

Yeah ok, so if I purchased the charging board, would I be able to charge two of the 450 batteries on it t a time untill I get a better charger, iv ore ordered a Align 550 DFC so looking to get a more powerful one then, but for now I don't want to spend to much

You could charge 3 batteries at a time, but at 0.7C. Two batteries would charge at 1C, yes.
