  • Could I have some help please :-)

Hi all, I have been flying rappys for a little while now, so I thought I would get myself a T-Rex 600 (yesterday) anyway the Lipo that come with it, I can not charge cos I do not have the right plug so I went to the shop and they did not have one to fit.
So the chap said, why are you using a big battery like that, I told him, its got a regulater on it ( Duralite ) and he gave me a battery ( sold me one )and said, I can just plug it into the RX and take away the reg.

Its a Zippy Life 6.6v 2500mhp , but when I looked at the spec of the servos they are 6 v ( DS10s and a tail servo DS620 ) would it be ok cos I did not want to burn a servo out over time ??.
I was going to put my 4.8 pack on there that I put on my rappy but my friend said it will cause the RX to reboot in flight with the servos I have.

Or should I just get another big Lipo ??.. would be grateful for any advice, thanks everyone. x

    It's fine

LiFe packs are a much better idea, as long as your charger can charge them.

Hi Michelle. I have been using Life packs on a 600E CF FBL and a 550E FBL. Both with the Align 610 and 620s with no problems.
Been there and done that, but never stop learning.
Now too many Helis to mention?

I am just now trying the LiFe packs on a heli but have not yet flown with them just yet. The main thing I have heard is to be very careful to know exactly how many flights you can safely get on one charge because unlike Lipos you cannot accurately measure the remaining charge with a battery checker. The voltage on them will stay quite high for most of the capacity and then drop off rapidly, there's no gradual voltage drop to guage how much charge you have left.

Right now I get 5 flights on a 2500mah Lipo with Duralite reg (with a healthy safety margin) on a flybarred 550 heli running Futaba 9252s on the swash. So I am hoping I can get a similar amount of flights with these Hyperion 3000mah LiFe packs but will be very cautious to begin with until I know exactly how much I'm putting back for a given amount of flights. So maybe I'll do two flights and then see how much goes back in, get a rough average?

I'm a bit paranoid about them because of the non-checkability :-o

At the moment, my Lifes are these:- HobbyKing R/C Hobby Store : ZIPPY Flightmax 2100mAh 2S1P 30C LiFePo4 Pack
They are 2100mah. I did 5 x 6 minute flights on Sunday with my 550E FBL doing pretty heavy chucking around. Just charged it up. I should have checked the mah put in but I was busy. When I first started using them, I was averaging 150mah per flight. This has gone up to around 175mah per flight.

Hi all, I don,t really no anything about batterys, only when they come with the heli just to plug them in, if I have the charger that is :-)
I to get Paranoid Sheryl with batterys, I am sure I could fly a lot longer but I tend to change the battery after every tank, well the better batterys two tanks.

I have taken the reg out now so will just use the LiFe battery and get another 2 I think, that should last the day.
My friend come over today to set up my transmitter for the T-rex, gosh I could not set it up cos it was just to hard for me, the rappy I found really easy to set up tho.
Anyway hopefully I will be able to have a fly of it next week or maybe over the weekend :-)
