  • Lipo guard voltage setting

What voltage do you set your lipo guards at?

I set mine at 3.6 volts and it seems to be at about the 80% mark taking about 3975 MA out my 5000 6S packs. Under load 3.6V seems to equate to 3.7 v at rest.

I'm getting about 9min of genital fff and hovering from my 600, which I'm really pleased with

Not familiar with that style of flying - does it involve making a c*ck of your flight?

In answer to the question, I set mine to 10.8 volts on the 450, = 3.6v per cell.

            Probably relevant to this posting...

I am using a ThunderPower 610C and the options for charging are 50% storage, 95% and 100%. Anyone know what the 95% charge is for? At the moment I am using 95% to charge my batteries when I expect to use them within the next week or so, 100% if I am going to use them immediately and 50% if I'm not going to use them for some time: is this a reasonable assumption?

If I understand it correctly the 95% charging option is there as a time saver. That last 5% to 100% takes quite a time to finish so stopping at 95% has you ready to fly earlier for not a lot of power/mAh loss.

What you're doing is ok. There isn't a simple rule as it depends on how good your lipos are. As the lipos get older they will drop in capacity and increase in series resistance and your off load end of flight voltage will go up. 80% is as good a rule as any and stopping at 3.6V on load is good as well. The last 20% is probably not worth using.

I don't think it is a good idea to store at 95%. It does shorten life especially at higher temperatures. I use the storage charge value all the time now. You could keep one at 95% and use that while you charge the others.
