  • Batteries on eBay.

Just had a scan for 4s batteries and there appear to be some incredible prices on eBay - a 5000mAH 30C at £30 odd
    (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/14-8v-5000mAh-...item3f00861e40

when I have just paid some £74 each for two such Loong-Max items.

So are these sorts of offers really just cheap and cheerful and should be steered clear of or, are they good value for money?

Thanks in advance for any helpful comments.

14.8v 5000mAh 30C LiPo 4S 14.8 Volt RC Akku Battery WF on eBay (end time 10-Jul-10 10:35:29 BST)

or, just search under 4s lipo battery.

I've been using 35C 3000mah 4s Winforce batteries on my EDF F16. They are okay, but not perfect. Of the 3 I have one performs very well, another performs well but puffs a bit and the third looks like it took some impact damage in transit and puffs up a lot. Performance on this one isn't too bad, surprisingly. That said, I doubt they can deliver anything like their rated amperage whilst sustaining any reasonable voltage and that's a big issue when running brushless motors in high performance applications.

My advice is to be cautious with these as they aren't great. I've found the Turnigy batteries from Hobby King to be far better performers and actually better value for money. They hold their voltage better and don't seem to get hot. I'd rather have 3 Turnigys that work well than 4 or 5 Winforces that are marginal.

Just to play my own devil's advocate at the other end of the scale are these 'bionic' lipos
            BIONIC 4S 14.8V 4800mAh 30C LIPO BATTERY on eBay (end time 10-Jul-10 16:41:14 BST)

at a mind boggling £146 each. Now how does one justify that? And, again, are they really all that they are cracked up to be? Even in the normal marketplace would anyone consider paying such a price for a 4s?
