  • Dropping voltage to store lipo

I have two 3S 1800 mah lipos that I would like to store.

My charger has a storage setting on it ... only I am unsure as to what voltage to drop the lipo down to. Will it know and discharge it down to its proper/best storage level if I just press start?

The value of the discharge current starts at 1.0A that can be lowered. Does this make a difference to what it's final storage level will be?

Not sure what charger you've got,but based on my Maxpro x6 plus-storage mode puts the lipo to approx 50% capacity,,,,, Lipos are generally shipped in a 1/2 charged state and provided they are kept in a cool environment can stay in that state for at least 6 mths,,, Had some Thunderpower 6s 5000mah packs that I purchased from West London Models in oct 09- tried them out last week and full capacity achieved in 3 cycles..

      Thanks 3dx,

After doing lots of googling I found the answer before I saw your reply.
My charger is the Etronix PowerPal 4 ... it does discharge it down to its proper/best storage level and then an alarm lets you know it has finished.

        Dischargers are rare.
Normallty its a case of flying the pack and then charging it up to a store level.
As far as I know they are pretty safe to store if anywhere between 80% and 20%.
And in my experience of pretty much always leaving mine fully charged, it doesn't do them much harm as long as you don't let them get cold (above 10 deg c for a fully charged lipo). I'm only botherig to leave them at 60% if I'm going on holiday or something.
