for two packs you'll need at least a 300 W supply with a higher voltage than 12 V (like 13.8 V, preferably higher).

          12V @ 20A = 240W but as most put out 13.8v (even if 12v is stated) then

          13.8V @20A = 276W

Now, if you want to charge a 5000 6S pack at 5C ............

6S packs charge to 25V and at 5A equals 25*5= 125W thats just for one battery at 1C. You need to double that for batteries in parrallel so 250W.
              Now that is without losses!
factor in the PSU losses as well as the charger losses and you will easily need something in excess of 300W.
So @ 13.8V you will need something around 22 Amps.
Some have used PC Psus and converted those. All you need is to connect the green and black wires on the AT connector and the PSU will switch on.
Its a cheap way of getting a hefty PSU for the job.

Cheers Ade but I cant do any leccy mods to anything but if that will do the job ok then thats all good as at home I only slow charge the packs anyway so no huge rush to get them done.

                    Ade.

Also if you use this routr you need to place a load on the 5V line to stabilise the 12V rail. Currently I have a 20W car bulb attached to mine which does the job.

Without the bulb fitted my 12V rail reads approx 10.5V. My cellpro 4S will operate at this voltage but the charge rate is limited to 2A on a 3S pack.

With the bulb in place the 12V rail is up at about 11.97V and my cellpro will give out the full 4A.

It is a very easy mod to do and is definately a viable alternative

                              2c or there abouts?
