I have soldered quite a few of these today and picked up a few tips that may be useful to others.
I can solder, but these are not the easiest things to do.
A previous post said file or sand the terminals- do it- it gives a lovely surface for the solder to adhere to.
Use a mole wrench as a vice to hold them- works a treat as it lies flat and the weight is more than enough to hold them dowm.
As always with soldering, tin the surfaces one at a time- heat the surface before applying any solder, then a good blob should form.
Do the same with the wire.
Hold the tinned wire on top of the terminal and apply the soldering iron on top until it all melts down- you will feel it squidge down.
Biggest tip- put both the male and female parts of the connector together before soldering a terminal- this helps heat disipation (?SP) but also stops the plug terminal seatings deforming if the plastic gets too hot and goes soft- works a treat.
Sorry if this is sucking eggs etc, but felt it was worth sharing
Cheers
