Advice on chargers and balancing

Hi,

I'm about to break one of my heli's for sale. Rapter 50 with full quick upgrades.

I think I will go down the leccy route. Either trex 600 or Raptor e620.

Couple of questions I need answering if poss.

1/ What do you reckon Trex 600 or Raptor E620
2/ Interested in a Schulze Chamaleon isl 6-330d charger. Can I use it as the balance unit.
3/ Are there any better chargers around
4/ Swaying towords the E620, because of 10 cells and hopefully longer flight times, but would consider trex 600
5/ Any advice on motor selection

if you want a high performance electric 50 size take a look at the mikado logos.

not the cheapest option tho.

I run a Trex 600 with two Schulze Chamaleons and FP V ballancers with FP packs and never had any problems, the Trex 600 goes very well with their new motor too.

Have they had issues with the xl motor?
Do you have to have a seperate balancer unit to the charger?
What sort of flight time are you getting out of the trex?
What packs. 4900 6s?

Align had a dodgy batch of shafts for the XL motor that were snapping ansd they are recalling them, the updated ones have a serial no. above the lable on the bottom.

I use a FP V'ballance that works well for me (only I can't charge at 1c as it melts the plastic so I charge at 4.5amps - and before the Kokam brigade jump on it, their call pro ballancers are blowing up ), my packs are the FP 6S 4900 and I'm getting about 6 mins and putting back about 3.8 amps so I could up the time a little.

I would say Trex600 as the 6s packs are going to be a lot cheaper than the 10s. I flown a friends Trex600 and I love it, I would get one my self if the batteries did not cost more than a hyper 50 new.

i am at a complete loss with Lipo related stuff

If i went for Align 6s lipos is there a charger that will balance them,,all i have seen is TP balancers for TP Lipos and the V balance module for FP lipos

Is there a decent charger that charges thru the balance lead for different lipos or is it a VHS and Betamax type thing

The ballancer connector on my old Align 6S pack (that 2 cells puffed for no reason) plugged straight in to the FP V balancer.

What about the Robbe Power peak fun charger with bid chip system?

It will do 6 cell Lipos which is all i need,does this work as a balancer?

Hi Thomas - My FP balance did that on first charge -- sent it back and they gave me a new one and I can charge the 4900 packs at 7 amps with no overheating.

i would strongly recomend getting something capable of 8 or 10s

everything is going higher voltage all the time. I fully expect to see people pushing up to 8s in 600s soon.
