Some Bluetooth standards have a pretty limited range. I think some of the the V2’s are rated at about 10m whereas other versions are allegedly up to 100m in ideal conditions. I don’t know what Revolectrix uses but mine is the same. I fitted my Android tablet into the lid of my charge case so it’s only a foot or so away from the unit but when I used my phone, I had to leave the phone in the vicinity of the controller to keep it connected. So many heli's, so little time.

Hey buddy.
Sadly BT is very much line of sight, unlike WiFi which is better.
I did swap my first Bump for another as I got really low range and the 2nd is better but not sparkling.
Also I found it depended on the handheld device to, my Note 4 phone isn't as good as my Android tablet.
Ideally a better BT aerial or ability to fit a remotemperature one would be great, as like the BT modules I sold the aerial is only a copper trace on the pcb. I have seen some mods to these cheap modules using some thin wire to make a straight aerial, but it's not something I'd like to try on a £150 Bump controller.
Also orientation/position of the Bump effects the signal strength to I felt.

Thanks for the replies least I knows its not a fault with mine, so there's really not much point in having the app, is there..?Today's outlook is fine for flying.- Spektrum DX18 gen2, Phoenix Sims, Align MR25XP.

Dispite the limited range, the app is still useful as it gives you more information that's also easier to see. I must admit, I often don't bother with mine but sometimes it's handy to look at the state of the batteries/charge cycle.Originally posted by tourerjim View PostThanks for the replies least I knows its not a fault with mine, so there's really not much point in having the app, is there..?So many heli's, so little time.

yep another bit of gadgetry I have to have even if its not from the comfort of me armchair.Originally posted by Crashalotjoe View PostDispite the limited range, the app is still useful as it gives you more information that's also easier to see. Where I've seen the app used well it's been with a cheap tablet built into the lid of the charging case. It's a great way to use the bump, bury the chargers, and have all the data visible at a glance. For that reason alone I think the bluetooth and android app are a great idea.
The remote monitoring to me has always seemed a bit of a gimmick as bluetooth isn't really designed for long range, and you should ideally be near the batteries anyway when charging.Helis: Oxy 2 FE / Oxy 2 Sport / Protos 380 / Oxy 4 Max / Gaui X3 380mm

Yup, I agree. I think the long range thing is something that a few users have wanted to try, rather than being something Revolectix originally intended.Originally posted by Crashalotjoe View PostYes, this is how I use mine. My guess is that this was how they envisaged it working when they specified Bluetooth instead of wifi or other longer range solution.Helis: Oxy 2 FE / Oxy 2 Sport / Protos 380 / Oxy 4 Max / Gaui X3 380mm

Morning mate.Originally posted by tourerjim View PostJust wondering if anyone came up with a solution since my first post.
I think someone did mess around with Team Viewer to allow extended range.
Basically Team Viewer allows you to control another computer remotely via another computer with the same Team Viewer software installed.
So in effect when used in your own home, it becomes a wireless extender.
