  • Electriflyer Haiyin warranty?

Just wondered if anyone has experience with Electriflyer over warranty issues with Haiyins.

A fellow member purchased 6 packs from them, one of them has had a cell go down after 3 weeks and 4 cycles use.

Their warranty states packs are only covered if connectors not swapped and it has not been charged yet(Useless in other words).

A couple of emails later and their silence is deafening, just wondered if anyone has had similar.

IMHO you may as well go cheap and Hobbyking with a similar useless warranty,or expensive like Optipower for a good warranty. No point buying midrange packs from a supplier with a Hobbyking style warranty.

    From website........
All Lithium Polymer (LiPo) batteries bought from ElectriFlyer are guaranteed for one month from the date of purchase, providing they have not been used or modified in any way. Modification includes changing of either the balance connector or main connector. The battery must not have been charged or used.

That might be their policy but it certainly isnt Haiyins... id just contact Haiyins direct. I had a pack delivered to me that had a puffed cell. Looked absolutely fine when i put it on the ESR meter. Its since had the screwdriver treatment before being disposed of. I emailed Haiyins in the US and they sent me a replacement pack FOC with no issues at all.
Use the contact form on their website...

I think thats fine lee and in fairness what i would do if i hadn't had any answer or an acceptable one from the retailer. However, it is up to the retailer to sort this out, that's what they're paid fo and what shows a good one from a bad one. Haven't had anything but good service from Electriflyer though

Never had an issue with Electriflyer when it was Chris. Haven't had to contact them since he left though. I had a faulty pack that I'd soldered an EC5 onto and he swapped it no bother. It took a few weeks, but that was due to them being out of stock.

Ah OK,i will update if and when he gets any joy, wanted to buy some Haiyins myself from them but this rang alarm bells with me.

I must admit i didnt read their warranty but TBH if its that black and white i think i will stick with Turnigy for now or pay more for Optipower and peace of mind.

I have to wonder how the situation with LiPos would be viewed under UK distance selling regs. On the one hand a product has to be free from defects and 'fit for purpose'. Adding or changing connectors alone really shouldn't nullify any rights under UK law because they are needed to use the product. The retailer is kinda caught in the middle because they cannot know for certain that a LiPo is 100% OK, you only find that out by using them (obviously you can check the IR but a cell can still go bad later).

Right now I have one pair of Haiyins that is working really well but I bought them 2nd hand.

Hi Chris. I am Paul from Nexus Models & Electriflyer and I was interested in reading your post as we pride ourselves on fantastic customer service. I have looked back through our emails and I cannot find any email with a faulty battery in the last few weeks which is odd. Do you know where he was emailing?
As our testing standards are so high before shipping we have an incredibly low fault rate on our Haiyin Batteries and we sell mostly on recommendation. We also updated our term and conditions sent out with battery orders earlier in the year which allow the replacement of connectors. Which we feel is fair and sensible. I must admit I had forgotten to update the site which will be done this week.
Please ask your friend to call 01604 631100 our main contact number so we can help him with his battery issue.

                    Hiya guys,
I am the club member with the Haiyin battery issue.
Just to bring you up to speed.
I messaged electriflyer on the contact link at the bottom of there page with no response.Did that as i work nights and asleep when there open.

Enough rambling on from me ,i have just rang up and spoken to Paul at electriflyer from his message on here.
I have to say Paul could not have been any more helpfull if he tried.Great response from him and he will be sending me out a replacement pack .
So i would have to say that there is nothing to worry about. They have a great after sales help there.

Oh just to add the link i used at the bottom of there page appears to not be working properly as Paul had not recieved the message and he is now looking into sorting it out.

Anyway bottom line is ,Great after sales service from Electriflyer/Nexus.
                    Many Thanks to Paul

I have never ordered anything particularly big/expensive from them, just connectors and cables e.t.c., but they have always been quick to dispatch and not had any issues that were not resolved quickly.

On one occasion I was one connector short, and this was sent out to me without any quibble after a quick telephone call.

Most importantly for me, they dispatch same day, and I have never had to wait more than a day for my order to arrive first class post. The only other people I buy from that can match that (for just normal 1st class post delivery) is Midland Helicopters.

To be fair i was going to ring Paul today and point him here but it looks like hes beat me too it already. Im glad it got sorted... I couldnt comment about the warranty with him because tbh i havent looked at it so did not want to jump to conclusions. I was about to post (before we got to this point) that the service ive also had from Paul has been second to none. What i was suggesting was that regardless of warranty with a distributer or supplier... Haiyins are very good at customer service also. And for that reason there is little to be concerned about. Eric Herewin who is the guy to speak to in the US is a cracking bloke who would also happily sort any experienced problems with their packs. However... I did find it strange that Paul didnt get back to you. Clearly theres been some mess up with the email.
