A little reminder guys/girls how dangerous it can be to leave or charge lipos indoors, I parallel
charged 5 of my 500 packs today and once finished stored them in my lipo safe bag as usual, I then put them on the wooden dining room table, after a few minutes I heard a bang followed by thick smoke billowing from the bag, I picked it up and threw it in the garden where apon each cell went up one after the other, it was very lucky I was standing next to it when this happend or the house would have probably burned down, I certainly won't store lipos indoors again

Not good, good job you caught them when you did.

On a outside storage note, I often think about leaving mine in the shed but it gets like a sauna in there on a warm day!

Damn, lucky you got it out but it has to be said fat lot of good them lipo bags are!!

There are some that I saw on FB that they demonstrated worked and they showed the typical ones people have that do pretty much sod all.

Lucky yes,but why did one go up...was one puffed?...did a connecter short out?

I don't believe lipo's can 'just blow up' or can anyone prove otherwise?

Not saying they can't,just believe there's always a reason?

I think the biggest problem is somehow finding out what happened, reference the short etc how would you find it. It went bang regardless, so you could say it went up of its own accord. I probably don't pay them anywhere near the respect I should on the evidence of the last few lipo fire posts. Methinks I have to change how and where I store them

i have no no idea why it happened, balance charged at 1c, no puffing or damage to batts, just went bang!?

I know that Dave...but if he comes back and says one pack resembled a rugby ball then it 'could' be the culprit.

my reply was aimed at can anyone prove a pack can just go up for no reason....

i never stuff lipos willy nilly in to a bag,they are in cases with the connectors all seperate from each other.

I saw a pic on fb earlier off a cheap packs discharge wire that had come out from the heatshrinked part of the pack.

there were no flames but just the intensity of the heat would have set fire to a carpet or table etc

What batteries? I would have your charger checked over before using it again IMO

in the pic i can see the silicone wire is not tight to a connector,most likely from pulling the wires,is it possible this could cause a short...5 packs + bare wires(here n there) tight in a small bag = fire.

Zippy Flightmax packs, the charger is only a couple weeks old so I'd hope it's not that, always a possibility tho
