  • charging 3s batteries?

The last time I used 3s batteries I used to charge them individually, on a cellpro 4s gold through the balance plug only

I now have a pl8 with mpa board, can I just parallel charge them the same way through the pl8? Or will I also have to use the discharge cables?
    Thanks

Yes, I just tested this, it is possible to charge through balance connectors only with PL8 and MPA.

        What I did:

        1. Plug in Lipo's to balance connectors.
        2. Select charge current (remember the current is 100% going through balance taps so limit to 4-5A)
        3. Select "No" to parallel charge.
        4. Start as per normal single lipo charge.

If you use the balance connectors you need to remember that they are small wires that are meant for voltage sensing. If the battery voltages differ by too much they can end up melting when one battery tries to charge another. Small resistors can be fitted in series which you then short out once the volts have equalised.

The OP is using the MPA board, so no need, it has auto resetting poly-fuses between all balance taps that limit the current flow if voltages are mismatched.

The fuses are a safety feature. You still need to keep the voltages as close as possible to avoid high charging currents.
