just put a hyperion 3000 life batt on my 600ndfc to bypass the regulator and I am sure its ok but how do you test the battery. i have a fusion battery tester and it shows the voltage staying at 6.6 when I move the sticks, but the percentage left was going down to 20% according to the tester. its a brand new battery and was fully charged.thanks

You can't with LiFe as it holds 6.6v for most of the discharge cycle before finally dropping very quickly. You just have to fly say 3 flights, and charge it up and work note how many mAh go back in. Using the 80% rule, you can then work out how many flights you can safely get from the pack. I use about 130mAh per flight on my Fusion 50 for a starting point.

+1 I am using between 130mah and 180mah per flight on my Trex 550FBL and 600EFL PRO.
Been there and done that, but never stop learning.
Now too many Helis to mention?

Daft question, but why on the ~Fusion smart guard, says Life on the front.
I been checking my 2100mah life packs with it by pressing type to change it to Life option on my Fusion!!

Because it lets them sell it to more people even though it doesn't work

Seriously though, ignore whatever it is saying and just work out the rough amount taken out each flight and plan accordingly.

Precisely. You can't possibly know how many mAh are in a pack as mAh isn't a quantity like fuel, it's a rate. The LiPo checker % left isn't really that good either, i tend to ignore that and just go off cell voltage. As long as you're not frequently having to put more than 80% back into a pack (ie > 4000mAh into a 5000mAh pack) and/or going below 3.5 volts per cell often then you're fine. My LiPo checker said I only had 4% left in the pack yesterday, but each cell was still 3.55v immediately after the flight. I agree that was a little too low however.

mah is a quantity. Not a rate. It's the amount of charge available from a battery. It's proportional to the number of electrons. Amps is a rate, like speed. Multiply speed by time and you get distance.

My bad. Still, LiFe charge level is hard to know without knowing what you've taken from it. It's not like LiPo when you can easily see a % left.

I hooked up this just to show there are LiFe testers but not sure its a good way of checking what charge is left, when fully charged shows 97% & after one flight shows 30%, not sure how many flights are left as this heli ive just a mod to LiFe to cope with the 3gx demands.

I've got the same tester & were getting the same readings and was a bit worried too. Got told to forget the tester & check what gets put back in on a charge, this was the best advice!! I found that a day after I charged one of my life batteries the fusion tester said it had dropped to 74%, put it back on the charger and it took 5mah!! so was still fully charged. Ditch the checker on life and see what goes in on a charge that way you will be able to average how many flights you can get out of a full charged life.

That's why those testers, even with a LiFe mode, are useless for LiFe.

Think you've misunderstood I'm already aware of how to check LiFe battery i uploaded the picture to demonstrate for reference.
