  • 'anyone seen / heard about these?

I just ran across these guys and from what I have seen and read so far I really like the look of their mechanics, drivetrain and rotorhead. I am just puzzled that I had not heard of them before (although I guess they may be very new).

'Just curious what anyone else has seen or read on them?

Hope you got a big cheque book. I have seen a couple of Zealous 2's at LHC, not being flown but on display in the shop, they are a bit on the large side, and a bit on the expensive side....
-I don't crash, I just land with enthusiasm.

A couple of 600n's with stuff on them that makes them fly..
A 550 fbl with even more stuff on it to make it fly
And a Mars 470 which needs stuff putting on it to make it fly

    And a DX8 too

Yeah, the pod and boom one works out to a bit over 5 grand in real money based on the AUS price on their website. I just had a look at the LHC website and it is shown at 3,935.00, I wonder if that is including the engine. But yeah either way it's a bit pricey but pretty cool looking.

I soooo wish I had the money and space for that sort of kit, a nice huge Apache would be right up my alley.

Yeah. I have had a close up look at them at 3DM and they look really good. Unfortunately they are more expensive than I thought because the prices on the LHC website don't include the Wren turbine! So figure another 2 grand, ouch!

Is the Long Ranger the one that Ali Maschinchi (how do you spell his name?) flew at the Sandown show a few years ago.

It was painted in a green colour scheme and imploded right in front of the main stand as I watched - apparently it was a gearbox failure. I've seen a clip of that flight on a streaming site somewhere.

I've never seen Ali fly anything other than fixed-wing and he is an excellent precise pilot. The gearbox maintenance issue is one thing that worries me slightly about the turbine machines. On the Rcrotortech mechanics the gearbox is not having to reduce as much because it does not take power off the main turbine shaft.

There are some that are not direct coupled but use the airflow from or into the turbine to drive a fan driven gear box......... hmmm no direct coupling to the drive don't think I like the sound of that........
