  • Jr Vibe Nex e8

    Hi guys.

Actually its my first post here. And I am proud to present my new self-gifted heli. I used to have Aligns and Raptors, but decided to go with JR this time. It was a love at first sight. I have been looking for a Synergy E6/7 or a Raptor X50E, for so long as i already had some gear to use, when i saw an advertisment at MHW. Next day it was on order from Ebay.

I was amazed to see the quality and how easy all the build went. Its the first time i don't loose any screws or bits and i owe it to JRs packaging. Each step was contained on a bag. You can see it in the pics as well.

The only thing i didn't like was a CA stopper, that locked a pin in the tail, that they have already attend it and i think it is now available for order and it might be contained in the new kits. Other than that there was no problem.

No main blades included, but there is a black blade holder. Tail blades are plastic.

I used 4 rubber ringsi had from a Raptor, on the skids, to have grip on ashpalt, as they are not included.

Setup I used is as follows.

    Motor : Scorpion 4025-740kv
ESC : Castle Creations Ice 80HV
    FBL Unit : BeastX
    Swash Servos : Align DS610
Tail Servo : Futaba BLS 251
    Regulator : Duralite 7,5Amp
    RX : AR7000
    RX Battery : Flighpower 2s 1600mAh
    Main Batteries : 2X4s 5000mAh 30C / 2X5s 4000mAh 25C

Just a notice here, with BeastX and recommended distances between the servo ball links (27mm), there is no way to get 6deg cyclic pitch and blue light. I had to go down to 20mm to get blue light, but there i had binding with the bellcrank rods and the elevator servo case. I ended up grinding some plastic from the servo case as i didn't want to sacrifice maximum throws. Of course bellcrank rods are not anymore parallel, but i didn't notice any bad tendencies (It doesn't mean there are not any)

Maiden when uneventfull and left me with a huge smile. It feels both "heavy" when hovering and so light when it starts flying around.

Castle log, showed 47Amp drawn at max, 1600rpm @ 66%, 2100 @ 85%, flight time was 6:30min and put back in the battery 1860mAh out of 4000mAh (80% rule), so i estimate that 8+ minutes of sport flying is possible.

    Feel free to ask anything.

    Thanks for reading.

    Hi,
I am building my Nex E8 and have the same motor and ESC. Can you say some more on the two battery setups you have? I am about to order batteries so which is best - the 4c or 5c ?

I have been flying a proto-type version of the NEX E8 for a few months now and love it. I run my version on 8s with the supplied JR branded Scorpion motor which is 740kv.

JR do show another motor option in the manual so the E8 can be flown on 12s!

I am using OptiPower 4s 5000mAh packs (2 off) and this seems to be an ideal setup but 4000 or 4500mAh packs may save that little bit of weight.

I have had a couple of JR helis, the last one being a Vibe 50 nitro! Called Vicky, she flew so well and took me through a B test pass.
Foolishly I sold her on to a freind and I deeply miss her.
I would love to try a Nex Nitro , but at the moment funds don't allow it.

        Maybe one day ,.....

Thanks for the post and the memories .

Also I have had to set up several Flybarless helicopters now and rather than use overly small servo horns , I have used shorter stand off swash plate balls.

        Hope this helps
        X Rachel

8s flys really good. I don't do 3d, but for f3c style flying 8s I think is really enough. From 1750rpm and up tail hold strong while at 1600rpm is kind of low and tail is mushy. For flying around without any backwards or aerobatics, you can fly that low headspeed and mistaken you have a gasser, maybe 10+ minutes.

Never gone to 2200rpm as I don't need it and would cause unneccesary amp draw.

Most I went as for amp draw was 72amps (spikes) for a fast and with consecutive aerobatics flight, reaching easily 6:30minutes. Had 1000mah left to hit 80% rule.

10s just arrived and haven't manage to test fly them.

Anyhow, its still an amazing heli that I really enjoy.

I almost finished my NEX8 today and spooled up the engine without blades to check that everything was running smooth. It seems very smooth except a slight wobble in the swash plate. I run with 140 degree swash and I can see a small horisontal movement in the swash links when running at low speed. The mast and everything else seems stable and running true, so the problem would probably be in the swash centerball.

How much wobble is acceptable - if any? Anyone else experience this?

Did you check all relevant screws are tightened ?
