  • going flybarless on airskipper

I have been out of the loop since 2012 when I moved to Italy.
On a day to day basis I have started flying my Logo 500 again; but I have an airskipper and two Sylphide 50's. Has there ever been an attempt to convert the Airskipper to flybarless?

I'm sure it has been done. There was a FBL Airskipper type 2 kit as well. usually it's just a matter of removing the flybar and mechanism, fitting a swash driver and then links to the grips from the swash. Sometimes you need to reduce the cyclic throws depending on how the grip arms are situated. Generally speaking it's pretty easy and I have seen a couple different ways JR FB heads have been converted. Obviously the other option is fitting a different head or different grips etc.

I was considering converting my JR Voyager 50 to FBL too. I'm 50/50 on it though as it flies so well with a flybar!

Yeah that was my thought about my Knight 3D. I can easily convert it but it flies really well with the flybarred head. And the thing is, with nitro you're usually stuck with one gear ratio anyway, so you'll have 1800-2000 headspeed which is where the flybarred heads are both quite responsive and stable. With electric you can usually gear for a bit lower headspeeds and then the FBL really shines because you have rate-demand cyclics.

I started on the electric conversion of the Sylphide back in 2011. I didn't finish but I probably have everything I need. Just need to regain confidence in my flying and find a spot to put a bench so I can start building again.

The thing with a Syphide is it's still a current (and very expensive) model so would be worth investing in.

I started a project converting a Robbe Milli 2 to electric and flybarless about that time as well, but I kept back-burnering the project. It's actually almost done, I got all the way to having the motor mounted and fitting a FBL head and having the FBL unit mostly setup. I should finish it just to regain face on Runryder  I kept telling them I was going to finish it and reported every time I made some progress but now it has sat for about a year :apologetic:

It would be nice if they were current but they are Sylphide 50s.
