  • JR Propo NEX E6-500 and 550 FBL

    Hi

Is anyone out there flying either of these helis? (I should probably say 'own' one as the weather has obviously been preventative of any aerial activity recently).
Both looked very interesting while I was researching them BUT the obvious question is why they appear to be so unpopular/uncommon?
Any feed back would be much appreciated before potentially making an incorrect purchase.

Many thanks for any advice either -ve or +ve.

    John

The only reason I can see is they were just not promoted enough in the UK. This applies to several very good brands as well such as Beam and Kasama. The amount of promotion done by big brands like Align and SAB can just dominate the market and smaller brands (or those that do not spend as much on advertising) get forgotten.

I just got an NEX E8 three blade kit that I am currently building and it's very very nice.

At the end of the day JR helis are expensive, they're quality yes but expensive.

For example JR Forza 700 skid set £23, Main shaft x2 £29

      Align 700e Skid set about £9 , Main Shaft DFC X2 £13

Sadly theres no comparison on common spares. I love the quality but I'd be scared to put it in the air, whereas I laugh in the face of Align :D (not really but you know what I mean)

You don't think it's anything to do with exotic high priced machines Sheryl, know nothing about the Beam but Kasama again even though beautifully designed, over the top when it comes to a stick bangers tool. Kasama is a hanger queen unless you're seriously minted, look at my turny things on my servos it transfers rotary motion from the servo to rotary motion on the linkage (or whatever it was for, sure there was a great engineering reason for it :D)

Unless a company really cuts their prices and aims low then they won't and can't compete with a Tesco heli like Align, sad but true.

You're definitely right about the prices, that's always a factor, that and spares costs and availability. JR and Hirobo have historically always been on the expensive side here and that has limited their popularity. To me it seems like the Goblins were close to the same kind of prices as JR when they first came out but they had such a buzz around them it seemed like the momentum was unstoppable and I think that overcame the fact they were more expensive than Align.

Now some of the older JR models like the E6, E8 etc. are going at very discounted prices and they're still very good helis, just 'under the radar' compared to some other brands and part of their lack of popularity is due to being a lot more expensive until just recently.
