• JR Forza 700 and full-size Tags

Hi All

So I finally completed my JR Forza 700 build today and now just need to set the heli up. I normally either use Vortex or VBar FBL systems however, on this occasion I thought it would be good to try the JR Tags-01, it appears to be a very simple to set-up and I'm quite excited to see how it preforms against the "usual".

Before I start with the set-up I thought to just ask for any comments on your experience with the Tags, are there any common issues to look out for? How does the unit preform on the Forza 700? and set-up tips will also be great.

Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

PS: Please DO NOT turn this into a Vortex VS VBar VS Tags thread, I have all 3 systems and am very happy with both Vortex & Vbar and want to give the Tags a fair chance.

Cheers
Peter

No mate, only to update the firmware, near everything else is done in the TX.

Hi Peter

I have been using the JR TAGS systems since they were released and I really do like them. Can you tell me if yours is the TAGS01 or the TAGSMini?

I dont have any experience of the Vortex or the modern VBar's but Steven Gerrard is now using the TAGSMini and really rates it.

JR have 'optimised' settings for most of there models and they do have a set for the Forza 700. As a default the settings are good but you may find that 'fine tuning' them within the unit itself will dial it in for you, so it may be worth getting a GTune lead.

If you need any help please email me at support@macgregor.co.uk and I'll do my best to help.

Steve

Hi Steve

Thank you for your offer of support and for replying to my thread. Fortunately I have a G-Tunes cable in the post hoping to receive it tomorrow, I have the TAGS01.
I went with the 01 instead of the mini as I'm still on the older DMS2 system on my DSX11, my understanding is that the mini will only operate on the newer DMSS system.

Having watched a few You-Tube clips and studding the instruction manual and it does appear to be a very user friendly system, with default presets available for the 700 as mentioned in your post I think it make it even easier to gain a reliable starting point.

As mentioned before, I'm really looking forward trying this FBL unit.

Regards
Peter

Ok, yes with DSM you ideally need the TAGS01 but we do now sell converter leads. So the lead you'd be looking at will allow 2 DSMX satellites to be connected to it and this will generate a DMSS XBus signal which will plug into the TAGSMini.

Food for thought for your next build.

We also sell one for Futaba users.

Meant to say earlier that I do think that this is a great FBL system and think that its very underrated and over looked by most.

I'll have to treat myself and give it a try, may even invest in a MiniTags now.....:sifone:
