  • Feedback on the GAUI X7 please

I know maybe there are not a lot of people gone for the GAUI X7 in the UK (yet!) but for me out of all the helis i have built/set up, the X7 has got to have been the more enjoyable to date. if you do'nt treat it like an Align, and use a ruler/vernier (screw lengths!) its a very nice build imo. getting the gear mesh correct on the tail output gears at first seemed to be a fiddle but a bit of time and the use of a vernier, pretty easy realy. not keen on the dome head frame screws, thay are prone to getting stuck! i prefer capheads and csk washers, not just bling, its so i can get the dam things out should i need to! the overall design of the X7 is very like the Fusion 50 also imo a very nice heli. I hope when the FORMULA canopy is released it comes in green to! all in all i would say all the cnc parts/ parts general are of a very good quality, the only missing parts in the kit were x2 M3x 10mm screws, not bad.

    cheers

the head sits 36 mm lower than on my T-Rexes, relative to the boom. Wonder why it rolls like on rails...

I really like mine, the only problem I seem to have is getting the main shaft collar correct as after a few flights I can feel the head move a bit.
Also had 2 canopies that didn't have the holes drilled in the right place, on my 3rd now and finally got one that fits.
I do like how it flies though and with the HKIII 4035-500 it has bags of power.

The best way i have found to get the main shaft coller tension just right is.. lift heli by the head batterys in. coller bolts just nipped up and home against the bearing. tighten the top bolt of the two enough so i dose not move (NOT TO TIGHT AT THIS POINT) then cearefully with a flat medium screwdriver poke it through the port in the frame and lever against the top of the coller as in the maual ,i know chinglish noddy picks!!, apply a little gentle pressure and lock off the coller as you do so, do not over do it or the bearings may fail fast! i had to adjust my X7 once it had all run in as i have said (same shims) and not had to touch it since.

Cuppa, just how did you use a vernier to get your tail gear mesh correct? I used the standard shim along with the thinnest shim to get a small amount of backlash on the gears. Not completed build yet as I'm still waiting for my motor to be routed via Timbucktoo. Meh! Should have exercised patients and waited for stock at FL.

+1 standard+thin shim(W16.5x19x0.2 i use'd the vernier to check gap and shim thickness, and that dictates the size of shim required same for shims on blade grips/fethering spindle also x1 std x1 thin. as far as i know FL have or did have four 350S HK III 4035-500Kv motors still in stock last week?
            Yep shows in stock.
