Gaui Scorpion motor for the X7

Not that i was unhappy with the 5020 520kv motor that i had in my X7 but thought i would see what one of these was like?, GUEC GM-350s gaui Scorpion HKIII-4035-500Kv whith the 47mm shaft,engages the steady bearing nicely , the 5020 is 42mm from the 'c' clip, only just fully engages with the pinion steady bearing, hard to see on the X7 but i spose if its in its in! i have gone back to putting a 4.8v 800mah eneloop buffer on this heli, better safe than sorry. not had a chance to test it yet, i got daddy nurse dutys, 14yr old girls!!!??? tryed the hadbag on a stick trick to get her up the club, no joy, so she must'nt be feeling to good lol. Daughter better first. test heli later.
(if you do go for this motor DO NOT use the 10mm bolts thay are to long go for 8mm)

Note, it it has a GAUI-specific mounting pattern - I can use only two screws with the Scorpion (not GAUI-branded) III 4035 - and had to buy the long shaft as a [I]very [/I]expensive spare part.

It works nicely with the stock (10t) pinion. A very balanced setup, IMO. Not absurdly powerful at the moment (I could mess that up with a larger pinion and ESC timing) but no problems with continuous piro tic tocs and flight times are longer than I would have expected. Doesn't get really hot, apparently quite efficient.

That was the route i was looking at at first. i also for the mo am staying with the 10t pinion. i was'nt keen on the heat the 5020 put out when i started to push the heli, i know thats ok but like i said for me the heat comfort zone was a bit small ! the 350s looks like it has much more airflow and i belive is lighter, also being a bit of a magpie the bling factor outshines the steve davies looking 5020 lol.

hmmmmm I just had a look at the specs, and the 4035 seems like a downgrade over the 5020. Lighter, lower rated power. If you say the 5020 is running hot, I'm wondering whether the 4035 will help.

Or maybe the 5020 is an older design. If I remember correctly, I had a first-series (not HK-III) 4035 in my T-Rex that was a piece of junk.

I beleve the 4035 has been re worked by Gaui, and works better than the origonal design?, i found both motors 5020-520Kv and the HK-III-4035-500Kv/Gaui mounted on the X7 using x4 bolts np! but i would not reccomend using 10mm bolts that come with the motor! use 8mm the 10mm are a bit long imho and can foul the windings/leads in the base of the motor case.

[INDENT]Had a chance to have a bit more of a fly on this new motor HK III 4035 500Kv. had to up the throttle to 90%@2100h/s idle 2 much cooler too! 4mins left 23% in the packs, happy days, verry quiet to. still on the 10t pinion yeees! still more power than you can shake a stick at lol
