Warp machining not great

Anyone else found that the machining of some of the parts has been pretty poor?

Here's a picture of my tail rotor shaft with a high spot which catches the tail slider brass collar. I have a similar thing with the swashplate and a high spot on the main rotor shaft.

Looks more like rust spots in that pic............bit of wet & dry....sorted

Definitely not rust. Possibly brass rubbed off the brass collar that slides over it. As you say, bit of wet-n-dry and some silicone spray and it is sliding nicely. But for how long i guess.

Personally I think for the price of the kit it should all be perfect. It is an expensive 450 heli (and very very nice to fly!), but certainly not without some manufacturing faults on this early version.

Already had to pay for some spare parts to replace other bits that werent manufactured correctly.

Well it has probably had 20 flights on it and the tail shaft now looks like this. Unfortunately it has also been binding and clearly causing issues as the tail control arm has been pushed up by the servo trying to overcome the binding and the screw for the tail control rod has scraped a groove in the tail tube. Now i have the fun of trying to replace the tail belt pulley onto a new tail shaft. Trying to get the little spring pins out i have broken the tail pulley and will have to order a new one. Anyone have any tips on how to get these spring pins in. From a quick google search it sounds like they are a nightmare and the reason that Compass started to send them out premade in the kit. Unfortunately to get a premade one you have to buy the entire tail box for £20+ which i dont particularly want to do. It may ironically be the cheapest option if these spring pins dont go well!

With a small bench vice you should do the work mate.

Where did you buy it from? I would contact them and request a new one. Been flying compass models for 2+ years and never seen anything like that before. Maybe a metal defect. ?

Yep agree with Graham, never had anything like that on my Compass's . Get it swapped out with the retailer where you bought it :-)

Cheers guys. Spoke with Westonuk and they were very helpful and were happy to even fit the tail pulley before dispatch. Ordered just the tail pulley though as i already had the tail shaft replacement and the pins went in easily enough and no damage to any parts - phew!

Fingers crossed it was just a dud pitchslider/shaft combo and the new one will be perfect.

Really love the model and the way it flies is amazing, so overall no major gripes.

But i have probably spent ~£40 on replacement parts so far and i havent even got anywhere close to crashing it yet.
