atom 500 with 550 stretch kit

Just bought an Atom 500 with 550 strech kit 70amp esc (2nd hand) anything I should look out for when checking it over? I'm looking forward to flying 'something different' :)

flogged my 450pro and will prob flog my 500 clone if I like this machine.

You will like it and flog the 500 clone imediatley,thats what i did.lol

did you buy it new if so when, converting to 550 you have to take the old belt out so while poping out the pin to get the tail shaft of make sure you have counted the number of shims to the left of the drive and the right. when putting back put them back in the same order miss them and you will have wobbly drive. the rest is easy its all pre built and thread locked any way no need to check.

Pretty Much finished setting up my Atom 550 - I can see myself getting shot of the Rex500 soon - Much prefer the design and build quality on this baby. Maiden next :)

You will love the 550 atom. Mine is still 500 and flys great

Agreed I love my Atom and would choose it over a Trex or a Mikado 400 (gasp!!!) any day. One thing I would mention is that the stock dampers on mine become sloppy fairly quickly however KBDD do an upgrade which are supposed to be very good. Trouble is you cant get them over here, however I emailed Nankin the other day who have said that they can ship to the UK. It maybe worth getting a group buy sorted out at some point. Also you can get Atom spares from RC711 at almost half the cost of Weston (including shipping). I have used them with no problems - Delivery was between one and two weeks though

WOW! I love it. Had only one flight so far. Bloody Brilliant! Love how quiet this thing runs - smooth machine!

really pleased with it. Looking foward to getting some decent lipos for it now - 3000 mah or more. Will use turnigy 2650mah 6s lipos in the meantime.

You went for it then mate. Good choice, its a nice heli. I was really impressed with the quality on my 6HV. Will have to meet down the field soon. I might go down there early eveNing tomorrow if you want to join me?

Nice. Yes the Atom is a quiet heli. When i saw Pete fly his 6HV i thought it sounded very like a Logo. I do like them Atoms & 6HV

Not sure it would really work - the 500 uses mid sizes servos, the battery tray is too small for a bigger pack, and everything is much smaller than the 550 equivalents.

So is the Atom, although the stretch kit only runs 515mm blades and not 550s. Reports are that you loose approx 30 seconds of flight time running the stretched atom but that can be regained by going FBL. The other problem is that the only 515 blades that I am aware of which are commonly available are the compass ones (require blades with 11mm root). These are supposed to be very good but they are all black (I dont like black blades :()
