  • Stock compass motor on 7HV? Is it the same one fitted to 6HV?

    Hello all
I have a compass 6HV which is a lovely heli to fly and fancy a 7HV. My question is I have a spare 6HV stock 540kv motor and wondered is the motor supplied with the 7HV the same? Is the shaft length also the same? If it's yes to both I may just buy the kit only although for only £86 more you get a set of 700mm blades and the motor so it seems a little bit of a no brainer. The only reason I'm considering it is the 7HV kit only is available now but the 7HV with blades and motor is all ready sold out and on back order.
On a separate issue what ESC are most people using? All the videos I've seen the heli has been fitted with a jive? So the ESC is costing almost as much as the heli itself? Thoughts?

    From what I know:
motor is 575kv + slightly larger
get the kit + blades + motor as compass motors are excellent. The blades are very good also made by a top manufacturer.

I believe the esc is a punch 120hv, probably a hw unit renamed.

    I run a 6hv & atom500 great helis. I run kontronik jive 80hv in the 6hv fit and forget.

Hobbywing hv esc + hyperion phase sensor + vbar is also a good combo

I've just checked and you are right the motor is a 575kv motor. I think I will wait for the few weeks it takes for rc711 to get more stock although they say they still haven't fully supplied the pre orders so it seems the 7HV may be a success story for compass? I'm not sure how many 6HV kits have been sold? I'm the only 6HV owner at the 3 clubs I fly at so I can't see it being that many in the uk although there maybe more in the south in the catchment area for Weston? Does anyone know total sales of the 6HV?
        Cheers

My experience of compass machines has been positive.

However there's a bit of politics thrown in which has a negative effect on sales.

The motor can says it's a 570Kv motor, just checked mine. I hope this 7HV may give Compass a little boost in the UK, it's needed over here ;)
