  • Blade thickness

Well, I've got my 3D and so far I'm really impressed (even if I did buy it 2 days before the price dropped by £30!!). Now for my first build question (or more of a parts question really)...

The instructions state that the blades should be 12mm thick. However, the blade grips are 14mm. Sorry if my inexperience is showing here, but should I buy blades that are 14mm thick or should there be a shim/spacer (1mm either side?) that goes in the grip? My Sceadu blades are 12mm thick and fit on that heli without any form of spacer. Is it a misprint, or am I missing something.... (I haven't opened the screw packet yet, is there something in there??)

    Thanks
    Simon

I'm sure You'll get more info on this mate, but seeing as no-one has replied yet:)

I cant speak for the Knight, but Thundertiger include spacers in the Raptor 60 & possibly 90 kits for that very reason.

The woodies are the same width as the Jaws of the grips so no problems...Until you fit glass or carbon blades whih generally have narrower roots..Then you use shims or spacers to pack them out.
    Cheers,

You might find blade grip spacers in with the blades.
      Cheers,

Thanks for your replies. I assume that I can buy either 12 or 14mm blades then!!

        Thanks

Yeah, use spacers if needed, basically.
Not required if the blade fits snugly into the grips.

            SimonN Hi,

Think all new blades come with Blade grip spacers metal or plastic. Basically like a larger washer. (Smoothed edges)

If you don’t have any Pm me, I'm sure I have a few left, sent a few out to Steve on here not so long ago.:D

They sit top and bottom on the radix blades that fit on mine.

There about roots 12mm, so should be the same.

            Hope this helps.
