• 2 styles of starter shaft

Hi again,

There now seems to be 2 versions of the starter shaft. I thinh I must have the earlier version KN-02-0316 which is now quite worn so want to replace it with a new one. I was in Mr Models today and I think he only has the new version(KN-02-0317). Are there any other items I would neeed to switch to the new version , ie bearing or starter socket etc.

Also why did they change the shaft??

Thanks

Simon:)

Yea theres a bloody lot actually.

My Knight 50 pro was the old version and what a bloody pain the $%^%^

You need starter shaft and Bearing block (unless you can get the old ones out)/ Clutch hub bearing or new clutch Hub I think is better choice.

The new shaft is wider so all bearings in that area must be changed.

Call Skyline they have all the stuff.

clutch bell, pinion, pinion bearing, start shaft bearing hex adapter are all different.

to get the bearings out just warm them ontop of the toaster and the will push out easily. Same with the mainshaft bearings.

KN-02-0316

Is the Number for the old style and the new style shaft,
The difference apart from the E clip is the shaft is the same dia, not stepped down like the 1st ones.

KN-02-0317

Is the 3d version part number but is the same as the sport one as far as I can see.

At the moment the parts manuals, for the 3d pinion bearing is shown wrong but listed the right size.

And yes as listed the larger shaft means everything from the clutch bell up needs replacing.

Although skyline had the older style one the other day.

I have an older style one on order from skyline, it's been about two weeks now. I hope the other day is longer ago than that!!

I looked at changing it all over and I suppose in the future I will have to. Spoke to skyline yesterday and they said they were hoping to get them in that day. I am expecting to get a little envelope on my mat tomorrow!

It has made me a bit upset, my pro is about a year old and already bits are obsolete. Pain in the a**e...

Yea well they told me no more old style but double check what they send you
as I got the wrong part at one point and the clutch hub won't just take the bearing been altered if I rember correctly requires the whole thing.
