knight 50 sport danger

i heard that people who have a knight 50 sport will be warned not to fly it as a part on the head is not strong enough and that helis have been exploading in the air,,if i got this right,and im new to this game,,the problem is with the thrust bearings,,was told that the meatal head knight has about 3 of these each side of the balde grips,and the sport one only has one and is just not up to the stresses,,ie,,if ya have the sport,,dont fly till its sorted,,thats what i heard anyway,,

there was a problem with the strength of the grips of the prototypes the grips have been redesigned.

no,,think is new,,hot off the press,,i may be wrong,,but was to do with the one bearing thing,thats what i heard anyway,,if this is the same thing then yes ya right,,but its the one bearing in the holder,,not the holder its self

havent had a problem with my knight sport been doing chaos squares and everything

The Metal Knight and Sport have identical layouts inside the headblock and bladegrips ie 1 thrustrace and 2 brgs no problems with mine 26 flights

Someone suggested the balls in the races may be loose but my metal Knights ones are anyway they cant come apart as the feathering shaft bolts are tight and hold it all together..If a race did fail it would not down a chopper


i brought a secondhand metal, Kniight from a well known source and it had 1 bearing MISSING from 1 bladegrip and it was fine,after about 15 flights i noticed a bit of excess play in 1 bladegrip and investigated finding a complete bearing missing....That never crashed

Please get your facts right before posting stuff like this The Knight Sport has 2 BRGS AND A THRUSTRACE in the bladegrips as has the metal one,the Raptor,Sceadu etc etc etc

The Balls in the races can come loose but they will not fail in flight as they have no way of coming free due to everything being bolted up tight

i was just saying what i was told,,and the person who told me this is a good friend of the man that owns a heli shop,,his 50 sport went in this week end,,i was just advising,,not telling people not to fly,so please dont shoot me down,im just passing on what i was told,,i did state i might be wrong,,maybe it was like a person said before the early ones,,and i did post here not in the warning bit to get feedback,thought that what forums are for,

and love em,,
yep there will be teethen problems ..just like any other new heli on the market..

knight 50 is an awesome heli.....very smooth ,, VERY easy to fly!!!
,,,and will do almost every trick in the book,,AND THE PARTS ARE VARY CHEEP TOO>

It was just your inaccuracy in saying the Knight Sport only had 1 brg not 3 to take the stresses..

Unless Compass models say otherwise there is no problem and at this moment there is no safety issue listed on their website


If there was anything Hot off the Press it would be from Compass Models themselves or Skyline models

I have just had an email from Luke at compass models to say that in some cases,when a Knight Sport has been crashed the thrust race bearings can come out of the cage on disassembly of the feathering shaft,they are modifying the bladegrips and there is no safety issue as long as the model is checked in line with their recommendations ie,make sure feathering spindle bolts are tight..


I am going to buy some aftermarket thrust brgs from a local brg supplier and replace the supplied ones,but not until i smash either of my knights into the ground first,i dont consider it an issue that needs resolving until i need to take the head apart..


Now go forth and buy a Knight,you know im right,all other helis are really Shite:)
