  • Century Razor CX 2.4 - Wandering massively on hover

    Hi all,

I'm new here so please forgive any silly questions of mine. :)

I have a Century Blade CX 2.4ghz and I'm wondering if there's a problem with it, as it's as stable as a one legged camel.

    ---- Brief background ----
Coming from a R/C car background I recently found a joy for helicopters, and currently have two. I have a Thunder Tiger Mini Titan (fitted with a Futaba GY401) which I'm afraid to fly until I get more Phoenix sim hours and a few lessons, but also very recently bought a second-hand Century Razor CX from Hurricane Models over in Hertfordshire.
    ---- Waffle over ----

I bought the Century Razor CX second-hand. It had been crashed by the previous owner, requiring just under £100 worth of replacement parts which were fitted by Hurricane Models. I picked it up for £99.

I've seen videos of the Century Razor CX on YouTube featuring newbies flying them, and even a guy who removed his thumbs entirely from the sticks and the CX just kept a steady hover.

I have a relatively decent sized hallway, so decided to try the Razor indoors at first before taking it outdoors. It hovered for sure, but required constant input as it always wanted to go backwards and to the left and the response from the stick input was terrible/very slow at best. I understand that you get turbulance when low, but even when I adjusted the cyclic control (I'm on Mode 2 by the way) to the right and forwards it still wanted to head backwards and to the left.

I eventually went outside to test this, and it was doing the same even with a height of around 5/6 feet from the ground.

I tried it after reducing the EXP and SENSITIVITY pots to minimum, and also after adjusting the SENSITIVITY pots to max and increasing EXP slightly. Same problem.

I tested it tonight with a full battery charge and the EXP and SENSITIVITY set to minimum in my hallway (so no wind etc and minimum input). It came backwards and left (despite me having full forwards and right on the cyclic), hit the wall, broke the top blades whilst chipping the wall paint, and that was that.

It's definitely not doing what it shows in the vids. In fact, it's so far giving me the impression of a very rubbish heli!

Basically, have I been sold a lemon here, or am I missing something (even if it's skill)?! I've previously flown a Techmo EV-04 fixed pivot 4-ch without issue.

Many thanks in advance for your help!
