• Talk about service!

Folk in the US always talk about the quality of sevice they get from MinAir or Bergen but I got to say that Neal and Blitz have got to be a UK version of that that'd be hard to beat!

A Blitz may look a bit dated in appearance but the quality and backup and flight characteristics are superb!

I was a bit unhappy with the feel of the mesh between the new crown gear and tail bevel gear during my crash rebuild. Not only do I get to talk to the man that makes them but an immediate offer to check the bevel gear housing unit and rebuild it if he feels it's got a problem..and only pay for any new parts used... so I don't have to wonder if the problem was there and i didn't solve it...

And as a small company when you ring up your voice is recognsied, your heli is known and the whole experience is a joy.

I should have bought one years ago!

I am saving up for one.

Last night I subscribed to the newsletter, just for grins. But I have wanted one since I first saw them and for me as a Robbe Futura owner, there's the obvious similarities with the belt drivetrain.

If I see a killer, not-to-be-missed 2nd hand deal I might go for it but ideally I want to get a new kit and build it myself. I wish they were not so expensive but so it goes.

I have spoken with Blitz and can also say they are very friendly and helpful. Excellent to deal with :cheers2:

Tell ya what..come and rebuild mine then you can have a flight:)
(I hate building... ,just got good at it from soooo many times)

Asid..as we PM'd.. go fly one and talk it up.. I'd like them to be around a long time. My flying abilities are limited but even i can feel the difference..flies as true as my MinAir gasser (just weights a tad less...)

I have to sell some stuff I don't need, some furniture and musical equipment and then I need to make room by selling a heli or two and then I can justify it. So probably the Raptor 50, Kalt Baron 50 and Robbe SuperSport will go bye bye and then it will make more sense.:biggrinjester:

Service

It was a subtly bent shaft and scored bearing. Posted the unit monday and got it back today..included in the packet another minor part I needed that I rang in yesterday.

Blitzy should be finished sometime during the w/e.. I've bought him a bigger RX to avoid Y-leads which will be here tomorrow.. just needs most of the frame screws pulling and threadlocking now the gear mesh purrs.. the other subunits..tail and head are finished so it'll be a recheck of the setup and rewire and pop the engine back.

I've decided to try my idea of a 5-cell AAA eneloop pack as a backup to the reg.. cheap enough to play with since I'm pretty sure i have a switch and indicator rattling around somewhere.

I need to have a think about the best way to add a gov here..got some ideas but no rush..was flying fine on curves..

Far simpler to use engine backplate sensor from Spectrum with a Throttle Jockey or by adding a sensor convertor, available from Ron Lund, you can use the GV1 or new Futaba 701 governor.

Thanks for the ideas.. how does that work with a crankcase pressured tank and nipple?

My obvious options would be to mount the sensor on a standoff bonded to the fanshroud..or neater to mount magnets into the clutch hub and a sensor on the frame..just a problem of gettign those magnet dimples drilled spot-on...

I don't believe the nipple gets in the way, at least that is what I have been told with the YS. Spektrum now do a stronger, still plastic, sensor bracket. If you're into bling there is also an aluminium one. I have the TJ and I have a 701 combination on order, I already have the sensors and brackets. My flying isn't very good but I'm reasonably sure the governor would still be of some use.

I like governors but they arenlt essential. Its got a csm720 on board and I have spare quark and stuff so buying a new gyro would be a waste. Where I've got 611's then they do take up space and I'm trying to find ways of avoiding taking the hood off to check stuff.
Blitz isn't going to be flown as hard as my 700.. Blitz (and Spectra) will remain a bit babied to avoid crash costs so again governor becomes less important.. the others can be the dirt eaters on stuff I'm not confident with:)

As it is it's a new reg and a bigger rx to lose the y-leads.. need to keep a modicum of sense on the amount of money I have in these things - stupid statement with this hanger full:):):):)

I've always been tempted to fit a governor, but so far I have resisted. I paid $299 including post for gy701 gyro/governor and BLS251, that's less than £190 for top notch gyro, governor and tail servo. I'm afraid I couldn't resist. I have an 8 channel s-bus Rx so I'm looking forward to playing! If only I could fly half as well as I can buy! The footprint of the 701 is smaller than the 611, and it is also the governor. Picked up my
new canopy yesterday, I'm afraid I copied of the one on the Blitz site, it's a great design.

I've seen the 701 up close... pretty lights that really need a cheater windowin the canopy to show them up:)

I've avoided s-bus so far... and avoiding new helis (although a spare .50 could be handy) but a new heli would get s-bussed...

A mate sprayed up a beater canopy for me.. when the rebuild is done I might snap a pic..but it really needs some decals and then I suppsoe it'd need another top coat to protect them.. something I am playing with in reduced spare time..The finish is exactly like a new supercar out of the showroom..since that's his day job:)

At some stage I plan to paint a canopy myself ..deliberately using brushes to get some scrumbling..but got real world things needing sorting too..
