  • AVRO customer service

The bad news is I have had another bad crash with my Avro - this nose in learning curve gets ever steeper and expensive - on a good note I must say dealing with Blitz is second to none for customer service and advice.

May I also squeeze in that I have just placed a wanted advert for anyone who is thinking of selling their Avro - complete or airframe only

    Once again thank you Blitz.

    Regards
    Paul

Oh no Paul, I do hope you haven't damaged that lovely canopy I sold you :(
    Cheers Russ

That's a drag. I know it's easy to say but my suggestion would be to get another heli for trying anything outside the comfort zone.

This is a rule I have set for myself when it comes to my Robbe Futuras because I would kick myself for dumb-thumbing them into a crash.

I decided this the weekend before last when I got disoriented flying backwards with the Hirobo evo 50 and had a minor crash, simply because I was trying something I had not yet become comfortable with either on the sim or another heli.

        Hi Russ
The canopy is ok - sort of! It is now held together with tape and lots of epoxy - I will buy a new one when I have finished crashing - that could be some time away.

        Hope you are keeping well

        Regards
        Paul

          Ditto!
I stacked my SpectraG 4 times in one year at and average cost of £600 a time!... To be fair twice wasn't pilot error..just pilot inexperience at getting out of the mechanical failure.

But as a result of that and other expensive incidents i have a simple set of rules - until I can do it on a 450 or 500 soldily (sim first) then don't try it on anything bigger. I also have a 2-crash limit:)

Now a 2 crash limit may sound odd.. but I recall a day when one went down due to mechanicals, the second got mid-aired and I got a third one out..and an electrical failure in flight. It took me days to get over that lot.

I agree and I recently bought a Raptor 30 for nose in training and have been doing well with it getting up to a minute at a time if there is little wind. The trouble was I thought I had cracked it so I took the Avro up and bang! My fault as usual - should not have done so until I could hover a tankful nose in - got over confident - well you know the rest.

To be fair I have a Srimock which I only fly moves that are well practiced but I always seem to get over confident with the Avro maybe because it is my most stable and heavy heli.

            I still want another one!

            Regards

So you mean 'two crash limit' as in once you reach two crashes you go home for the day, even if you have another heli as yet uncrashed.

Yeah, I felt bad about pranging the little Hirobo because it's such a nice heli and flies so well and it was just my own recklessness that caused a crash. Fortunately the heli itself suffered very minor damage, just the battery tray (which is now cabled-tied back on) some links on the rotorhead, top canopy mounts and a fairly new set of 600mm NHPs. But it should have been sim first then 450 or Ely.Q way before doing anything like that on the Hirobo and never never on the Robbes (or the Predator) until the move is down solid.

Yup. ..whether they were 'my fault' or not..

For sure the mid-air wasn't.. plank guy could just have waited a few minutes..but no.. took off while I was airborne and turned straight into the predator....hit dead on into it's canopy..

The guy I spoke to today was keen to talk about the Avro and gave me lots of good rebuild advice.
Its good to talk direct to the manufactures.

Interesting that an Avro thread from a year ago has popped up again. I just saw a recent thread on another forum as well. I'm glad to see at least
pockets of interest out there for the Avro as it has been pretty much forgotten in the waterfall of new helis and technology the last couple years.

I've just had the hassle of moving all my models to a new tx.. which feels totally different to my old one. When I flew my 600N on it for the first time it was horrid..very twitchy...even the 700 was a bit more nervous but the Blitz just sat there..solid as the proverbial rock and flying as it always does..dead straight in gusts to 25mph. The only thing more solid is my Spectra .. but that's down to sheer mass.

Sad reality is that high costs in the air limit ones adventurousness but the blitz if a joy to fly.
