Russ (bigbellypopper) was thinking of raffling either his RTF Avro or the 700, maybe its worth sending him a PM to see whether he'll be willing to split and sell the Avro frame..

When this thread was started I didn't have an Avro yet but wanted one. Later in 2010 I got one (with a very similar colour scheme as well). I flew it a fair amount last year then had engine troubles (wasn't familiar with YS engines as yet). So it sat on my shelf for a few months but now it's ready to fly again. They're still great helis for accuracy and stability and every part is painstakingly engineered and finished. I wish there were more of them about but somehow I have a knack for owning helis no one else flies :-)

I must admit I almost hit the button on the avro on BMFA until I remembered I'm supposed to be retired and sensible now:wink:...and not own 2..
..well that and the fact I keep slamming the 500 into the ground practicing stuff I shouldn't be doing..
..and the weather has been a tad raw..
..and I still have a mound of post moving and farm tidying up to do..
..and my temporary heli fixing room was 1C today and only got up to 8C with a 20KW deisel space heater and a 3KW fan heater both full bore..

But my Blitz is fully charged and checked out and ready to rock:hurray:

I think I was more upset about the canopy than the heli -

UPDATE

I bought an second hand airframe not long after the crash and have been flying it eversince - albeit with a more plain canopy and its still my fav heli - next job is to flybarless it when I can figure out what head to use and fit a skookum 720 with the bail out feature - I am sure this would have saved me.

Good to hear you got it going again and stuck with it. I had a nice chat with Neal from Blitz recently and we were talking about how different the heli scene is now vs when I first saw the Avro in 2008, there are so many more models out now plus the electric side has evolved so much etc. Apparently they still sell fairly steadily though.
There are some guys on RR that have gone FBL on theirs. The Avro has one of the best flybarred heads out there so even if I were to convert more of my helis to FBL the Avro is prob one to remain flybarred, but obviously that's a personal prefeence thing.
