  • Avro maiden flight

Just had the first flight on the Avro which is set up on stable mode - have to say it is the most stable heli I have ever flown.
A great piece of kit. Great for learning on.
    Regards

    Paul

Looks really nice Paul... How does it compare with what you have already?

I have still not flown mine yet, I had almost decided to get rid of it, but after seeing yours, I am going to at least fly mine before I decide what to do with it.
            Cheers Russ

I have a Srimok, 600 Nitro with a Kasama head and the Avro.

Srimok is my fav helicopter - superb engineering and lots of bling, there is nothing quite like it on the market, flys incredibly fast and true. Its a pleasure to fly and to admire - a bit wasted on me as I find it to fast for me to learn new maneuvers hence the Avro.

The Avro is heavier so more docile in the air - it has lots of options for set up including a stable mode, sport mode and 3D mode, I set mine up on stable mode but having flown it I will change it to sports mode. Stable mode is super friendly for hovering on but for forward flight I find it to slow and keep wanting to give it a push. Only people leaning to hover in all directions should set up in stable otherwise go for the middle sports mode which is a good compromise.

I plan to use the Avro for learning new moves and then perfecting them on the Srimok.

I have a 600 with every upgrade going but its unfair to compare it to the 90 helis, it is just so much fun to fly.

              Hope this helps

              Regards
              Paul

I invited myself over to Pauls field this afternoon to have a look at the Avro , [i have seen one of these machines before but that one has a gas turbine fitted] , so was nice to see a nitro powered example, what was most suprising was just how stable it was even with stubz and a set of CY stick bangers bolt to it! You've got a really great field and a nice selection of models , thanks for the offer to have a go with the avro but i'm never happy to fly someone elses pride and joy . Made a nice change to fly rather than pull / push dents out .

                        The Avro

I do love the Avro. So my ears perked up when I saw this thread,:) then I
realised it's a couple years old.:( 'Good to know you still have the Avro Paul.

I have only had mine since November of last year and didn't fly it until
probably March or April as I took my time gathering the electrics and
stuff but from the very first hover I knew it was going to rock.

What surprised me is how responsive it is even on the most stable
                        head settings.

I still have some fine tuning to do but it's pretty darn good straight
                        out of the gate.

Just a shame they did not continue to develop it! Would have been good to have seen an electric one of these.

Yeah if they wanted to have a competitive F3C machine there would need to be an electric version for the top level competition but
for myself personally I don't think a .90 size electric would be practical due to the weight and bulk of the Lipos. The nitro airframe
I'm sure could be modded but you'd have a 'saddle bag' arrangement for the Lipos rather than a more elegant space for
                            them.

Yes I still love this heli and its very rare to find an unhappy Avro owner.
I just wish Blitz would bring out a stock flybarless head. They have note updated the Avro or brought out any new designs for ages.
                              Regards as always
