• Exhaust for Avro

As I am struggling to find a second hand avro for sale it looks like I will have to go the new route.
So far got an GP750 gyro and a DS650 tail servo (from little acorns)
I am now going to get the engine an exhaust sorted, am going with the OS91 as it is serving my Srimok well but am stuck on what exhaust to get, I understand that some exhausts are too close to the fuel tank and can melt them.
What are current Avro fliers using - I would also consider second hand items but if not I will go the new route.
Regards
Paul

Hi Paul

I have a Hatori SB19 on my Avro. Mine has ample clearance with the exhaust. The SB19 which is a US part number equates to the 946 (for the YS SR motor) The equivilant pipe for the OS91 is the 939. Both of these pipes have a 30mm header depth, as opposed to the 994/995 mufflers which have 20mm headers, and the 937/938 mufflers which have 24mm headers. If you don't go the Hatori route, go for something with at least a 28mm header depth

Have a look here
Cheers Russ

Followed the link and see only 4 options for the F3C pipe. I'm guessing the one I need to go for is the 962 which has 30mm clearance. I'm fitting an OS91SZ-H. Can anyone confirm the crankcase is the same as the HZ? The pipe is over AU$200.00 and I don't want to get it if it doesn't fit.

Don't worry too much about the header clearance. I have the Hatori F3C pipe withe the reduce header on one of my Xcells and it used to be on a 700. All you need is the K&S 8mm adapter like this MUFFLER ADAPTOR 8MM (OS60/90/YS80) | Midland Helicopters Ltd

It fits YS and OS 91s. I have 2 of these extensions in use on different Xcells with different pipes.

If you're interested inthe Funtech A381 with several spacers I am selling off my airframe and spares and would not be looking for big money.
