  • x50 electronics.

Hi guys, could anyone give me advice on which electronics to fit in an x50 (flybar) I'm building, not an experienced flyer so nothing over the top necessary!
Need everything, battery, servo's, gyro, receiver, any help will be appreciated. ( have dx7 tx.)
    Thanks, Mike.

      Re: x50 electronics.

Pretty much what i would say gixerman . The only difference i have is a 620 on throttle & 650 on the tail i have a governor as well so was told you need a fairly quick throttle servo .

Go for DS 815x3 and DS655 as they are cheaper than the 650 and 610 try Skyline I obtained my set from them for my Compass 3D+ and Raptor 60 use a GY520 Gyro on both bomb proof

if its nitro aswell id get the redline 56 engine and matching pipe, and the align governor to go with it. The align 2 in 1 is also a good addition to any machine, not so much on higher spec machines, you may want something a bit more beefy, but for most the align is plenty PLUS its got the push button glow feature I like that! LOL

Thanks for everybodys useful advice, kit came with redline 53 and pipe, prefer o.s. but purchased at a good price! have ordered 615s and 655 servo's, told 780 gyro discontinued and advised to use gp 900 as receiver/gyro (with satellite) has anyone had experience with these? are they easy to set up? using dx7 so any help appreciated.
              Thanks again, Mike.

Id use the spartan gyro everytime over the align one mate! Much better tail authority! And just ur common or garden ar7000 receiver

The 900 is actually pretty good imo, its better than the 780, it's like the 750 but with the benefit of a neater install with just satellite recievers, the hold is very good and piro consistency is again pretty decent. And yeh they are pretty standard to set up.

+ 1 on that, that's the setup I'm running on my flybarred X50. With a spartan quark gyro. Nice and precise just need to sort out my engine issues...

Hello, Is It important to get the distance between balls on servo horns (push-pull) equal to lever ball distance? i.e. 23mm on x50 because no supplied horns (align) have correct distance, If not would it be better to use slightly narrower or wider positions? bear in mind I am not an experienced flyer.
Also how do I set tail servo centre to set up initially? using gp900 gyro.
                      Thanks. Mike.

I have an X50 nitro flybarred and it's my most flown heli.

The heli is very light and nimble so I find it goes pretty well on an old OS50 engine with an MP5 pipe. I'm sure it would go like a scalded cat with a 55/56.

I have a 3600 mAh NiMh Sub C battery pack in mine, a Spartan DS760 gyro, JR 8321 cyclic servos, JR 8700 tail servo, Align governor and it just goes and goes and goes. Simple stuff, trouble-free flying. Been flying it week in and week out for more than 18 months now and I've never owned a heli that was more easy to live with.

I have two modifications on mine from the stock kit - first is I ditched the stock blue paddles after the very first flight as they were too aggressive for me and swapped them for Hirobo Sceadu paddles, and second is I have the TT 140 deg CCPM upgrade (£25ish) just because I prefer the mechanics of 140 deg CCPM over 120 deg CCPM. Everything else is as it came out of the box.

                        Flew it yesterday..... rained today.

i'd use the slightly shorter holes in the servo horns
it will give you less throw on the controls

the std padles are great on the x50
and i agree with the os 50 as the power plant, mines coupled with the os55 pipe and it goes very well
