  • my new x50e - some advice?

    Hi all,

I'm about to build my x50e and am pondering what battery and motor set-up to go for, I'm tempted to go with an Align 600mx with 12cell lipo, but any advice from experienced x50e flyers would be welcome?

    thanks

Hi, there is a electric x50 forum on here. Might get a quicker reply posting in that :-) (ask a mod to move it for you)

I have an align 600mx 510kv, 2 x gens ace 3300mah, castle 80hv vbar etc. Align servos. All works well. Nice heli to build. You'll love it :-)

As long as the gearing on the X50 calls for a motor in the 510KV area then it should work fine on that heli. At the moment I have four 600 size helis all powered by Align 600mx motors and they work great and have bags of power. Two are running with Kontronik 80HVs and two are using a Hobbywing 70HV which also work very very well. I'm using pairs of Gens Ace 2600s (25C), Turnigy 30-40C 2650s and one pair of Zippy compact 2700s.

Does anybody know if the Align 700mx will fit in the X50E.

Blurb says accepts 52mm can motors,700mx is 52mm but i am wondering if in their specs they allowed some margin.

        Edit

Seen on Freak that it indeed does fit

Hi Chris, think it will just fit. Sorry the picture isn't that great. Gives you a rough idea of how much space you have to play with. Remember some guys on freak running with 700mx motors in theirs as well. Measured it all the way round and I think it may be snug but will fit.

cracking heli to build. Everything just fits 1st time without any issues.

          cheers

That's what I'm running on my Fusion 50, except cheapy turnigy blue LiPos and it's awesome. Plenty of power and great fun to fly.

Hi, I run 550kv on standard pinion and main gear. It takes an 8s 4300 long pack that sits neatly inside the main frames. Ive built three so far. Two have gone in to airwolf fuselages (one was begged into being sold - just completed the second) The third is strictly for idiot up mode flying. Works fine for Rafey

Sorry for the picture quality Chris, didn't really come out too well but there is space for the 700mx.

                    Cheers

Sorry, I hadn't finished but the Forum was having probs and my keyboard kept mssng f kn lttrs out!!!!
Whatever you do, unless you like banging your head on a wall, do not copy my 8s set up. Ive run it for ages so I stick with it. But 8s is a nightmare to get balance leads for. I made my own. Unless you run 2x4s but then your trying to hide two batteries in the skinny x50 airframe. Try to stick to a 12s set up
