  • X50 tail boom

Does anyone know the reason why there are two small holes drilled into the tail boom on the frame end of the X50. This just seems to cause a weakness in the tubing which leads to it splitting (or is that the reason?). Would change it for a carbon version but none ever seem available.

Well on my model I had two screws which go through the boom block and into those holes to make sure the boom doesn't back out. This is on the torque tube version.

I have no idea why your boom should be splitting unless you have made a mistake with the assembly.

See page 25 of the manual.

That could explain it. I have the belt driven version so need the boom to slide for adjustment to tension the belt, therefore would not use the screw holes. Only reason it has split is due to vibration after 2 years which i found was due to the main shaft bearings needing replacing. Thanks. Rob
