  • X50 canopy...is it fuel proof?

Just had the first few flights with my new Raptor X50. Love the way it flies but have noticed the canopy has a mark on it were some neat fuel was splashed onto it. I dont run high nitro fuel. Optifuel 5% to be exact. Anybody else had this problem?

If it's a genuine TT canopy then it should be fuel proof. I have only ever had that problem with a self painted canopy. If you are struggling to remove the mark, contact opti fuel and ask their advise. I know they sell cleaning products for nitro helis etc.
I have never run a Heli on 5% I always used opti SLV 20% so don't know, maybe the fuel is incorrect.....?

First post so here goes..... i did have a similar issue affecting the paintwork on the FRP canopy that came with my X50 but this was over nearly a year. Following a slight mishap which along with some other parts meant i had to change the canopy i bought a plastic one with the same decals / design. Have had it now for over a year but it keeps splitting. I dont need to remove it on a regular basis but it has split on both sides and the broken at the fixing for the bottom clamp which i have just had to repair with a plate. The plastic is much more rigid than that used on my Raptor 50 and is probably the reason for the problems. Using optifuel 20%. I must admit it is used every week. Anyone else come accross this?

5% is wayy too weak for a 50 size heli!! Optifuel 20% or equivalent is what you need. The mark on your cano will probably just T-cut out. I turtle wax all my painted canopies to protect them from the fuel
Some say my left nipple is the shape of a Raptor canopy.......... And that for fun I chase sheep in wellies 3 sizes too big. All I know is I am 3D Clod

          No problems

          Hi,
Not had any problems with the paint lifting, but you have to be careful taking the canopy off on the top 'O' rings or the canopy will start splitting (I speak from experience!) I have painted canopies with Humbrol paints before which I believe are still fuel proof?
