FBL Raptor

Just wondering if anyone has converted there Rappy's to FBL and if so what's your thoughts.

I help a friend of mine covert his Raptor 50 to flybarless, I think he got the head from a company in china and we used an AR7200BX Spektrum flybarless controller, it was just as easy to setup as any other Heli and flys great. I would recommend to give it a go.

Was the head a clone or the TT genuine

The head was a clone, it cost around £30 delivered. I might see him today so I'll ask him and get back to you, if my mind serves me right I think he got it off eBay and it was pretty good quality. I know some people have used a trex 600 FBL head.

An rjx head will be good and can be had from HK.

One thing to keep in mind about the Raptor is that the flybarred head has the overslung flybar so the main shaft is higher than on helis that had an underslung flybar (like the Aligns). So it needs a headblock that sits right down onto the shaft otherwise it will be sitting much higher than it should.

If you can find an Ely.Q Vision Ultimate headblock and grips it makes a good FBL head with just the addition of a swash driver and uses the same feathering shaft as the Raptor.

The RJX heads are also a good option.

Yeah you can buy the RJX head from ROSS MOD (RJX XT50) or you can buy two for the same price from HobbyKing :-

RJX Flybarless Head Assembly Trex 600 / .50 Size

The Swash is just the standard Thunder Tiger all metal swash plate.

I'd also recommend these blades :-

600mm Flybarless High Quality Carbon Fiber Main Blades

The graphic markings might be slightly blemished, hence the cheap price but you really don't notice that when their spinning at 1800 RPM !!!, however mechanically they are fine and work perfectly...

Sure is..... i was going to retire mine after 6 years of solid service...

After converting her to FBL..... she's a keeper ....
